Meanwhile, you have Penny who just kinda.. I dunno, there's something about off-putting about her. She puts on a brave face yet is clearly unhappy, and shy, and I think she reminds me of a huge romance genre cliche.
I feel like most of the characters have their pros and cons, some obviously more than others, and what you personally find unlikeable or intollerable won't be the same for someone else. My ex likes Sebastion but is completely put off by the fact he smokes. I really like Emily but she is ALL over the damn place. And she likes clowns which I loath vehemently.
I do agree with the general sentiment that Alex never /really/ stops being a dumb jock. He's got a bit of a tragic backstory, but it doesn't really excuse the way he acts. Haley, on the other hand, comes from a completely different world and gradually opens up to your way of life and grows and gets better.
And then you have Elliot who is.. I dunno, he has his moments, but overall he's just the "mysterious writer" that lives alone and has almost no development.
Abigail's a gamer girl, Leah's an artist that lives close to nature (and if that isn't the common ideal for an artist, i don't know what is), Hayley's your middle-school queen-bee, Maru's the smart black girl, Emily I have no idea but considering that the rest are stereotypes, there's no reason for Emily to not be and Penny's the shy girl.
Shane actually annoys me so much. I caught eye of him talking about pizza on your breath while looking for what he does and it made me want to make him hate me lol.
Meanwhile pretty much all the girls are pretty likable people. To me at least. I did initially think some of them were annoying until I saw their whole stories and how they change.
I think Emily may or may not be your typical hippie girl mixed with those who are into astrology and meditation.
She seems to also be the typical girl who wants nothing more than peace for the world and leave all hatred behind.
I think she also may do some drugs to be honest.
Yeahhh...not exactly romantic of Shane to comment about pizza on your damn breath. I get it some girls may like it, but I honestly think most people would like it if he were JUST a friend. He seems to be good as a friend, but as a marriage candidate? ♥♥♥♥ that
Agreeing with many other comments, I think most of the bachelor/ettes are too young. I've had two farmers so far - a man and a woman - and I envisioned both of them in their 30s. Dating was super awkward because of that. Sam and Abigail are the biggest turn-offs for me. I swear they look and behave like teens. Penny and Harvey seem to be the most "sane" option for marriage, I suppose.
I'm not a fan of DLC, but I'll be damned if I wouldn't buy a character pack. Especially with the years passing in-game, I'd love to see some new (and older) faces.
Their goal is to make money, not an epic game. Being as Vague as possible in every aspect of writing allows them to shove the product in front of all ages. Especially the brain dead Teens. Hence the stero types.
I'm so glad CD Project Red exists. I would have gave up on the game industry long ago otherwise.
Really everyone in the town are stereotypes. But truthfully everyone in real life are probably stereotypes. Lol even if you went out of your way to not be one you'd just fall into the wacky/individual stereotype.
*shrugs* it's a farming sim not a dating sim. I don't judge it on its weak points but praise it for it's merits.
