Wood and Stone 5x the usual price?
Not sure if this was a change I missed at some point but I thought robin sold wood at 10g and stone at 20g a pop, yet she is selling me Wood at 50g and stone 100g a pop.

Everything else seems to be the same price, not sure if this is a change because I am playing the new (co-op Beta update) still playing single player mode though.

Anywhere I check I see that it's still noted at 10 and 20, maybe it's related to having low relationship with the character or because it's a rainy day and robin stays in for rainy days?

I need to look it up, but I recall reading after the 1st year her prices go up like that.
Nvm I just found it in the Beta the price of wood and stone go up to 5x their original price after the 2nd year (never got this letter since I was post 2y when I updated to beta).

Damn that really sucks for me since I wanted to speed up my preserving jar production but why burn 500g when I can chop down a tree for just as much wood now.

I think that more or less why, by the 2nd year, your more well off money wise, so it not hurtful, or you can easily chop a bunch with upgraded tools, perks and stamina and such.

Actually not that well off money wise since I preserve everything for my money it takes time and happens in batches (I have fruits still in storage just waiting to be preserved) but at least I do have time to go out gathering so I will admit that.

Still a bit weird for them to do this seeing as it's the only shop that does this, not to mention this change is intended to balance out those who do have a huge money making machine not held back by the need for said resources lol.

still had I known it would have gone up in price (and only in robins shop cus your selling price is the same) I would have stocked up on more of them, simply just a punishment for me at this point in the game for investing on other things.

It's dumb. Preserving jars are already really expensive especially compared to Kegs. I'm fine with a x2 price to offset a larger automated farm but x5????

Well your still easyish, 4 tree is enough wood to make the jar, you can easily mine for other stuff and come out with a ton of stone. and coal easy enough on the correct monsters. So really by year two, it really not that bad, and even if you can only make one a day or a couple a week or whatever if you can't buy it, it all adds up in the end.

If you're lucky, sometimes one or more fruit trees can be struck by lightning, thus causing'em to produce coal instead of fruit while giving off a smoking effect.
Nah I just decided to go the route of farming the items, (less than a day to get about 500 wood) and then about 1 or 2 days for 300 to 600 stone, you can either buy the coal or farm the coal floors 50 to 54 while getting stone. Coal is not an issues Coal only costs 250 and you only need 8 to make the preserves jar vs the 100 cost stone that you need 40 of (ends up being about 2 times more expensive in just stone than coal).

you used to pay about 2k in coal + 500 in wood + 800 in stone for a total of 3.3k just to make 1 fruit preserve jar (which would pay itself back in maybe 2 or 3 months profit wise could be a lot less depends on crop)

Now you have to spend 2k on coal still + 2.5k onwood and + 4k on stone lol 8.5k almost tripple, I get that maybe they want to make those common resources into an end game money sink but dang that's a bit crazy for something that happens with no warning over night.

Perhaps it should have been a year 3 event.

Guess you haven't check that Blacksmith out in a while. Coal is now 250. Gold is 750. Might be a good idea to run around and check everyone prices verse the wiki cause the info on the wiki is still 1.2 patch.

You just need to adjust your playing style to go with the new prices.

Things will happen a little slower while you save up some capital.

Might as well face it -- It's going to cost a bit more to spam kegs and jars or to cheese your way to the bottom of the mines.
And here I was planning to do a run without entering the mine XD.

That's still easily doable. You can get ore from fishing, tilling soil and geodes you fish up. If you want to "cheat", you can get the Hilltop farm for extra geodes and ore. Rocks spawn on your farm, which also give stone, coal and geodes. You'll definitely get enough ore for your upgrades, over time - you only need like, 100 of every ore type to upgrade your tools. Fishing with crab pots will give you a lot of refined quartz and iron from recyclers, so beehives and sprinklers should be fairly easy to make. Copper and gold will be your biggest problems - copper should go towards a few tappers first, even just 2 per oak/maple at the bus stop, then the rest towards kegs or whatever you want. Gold should go towards sprinklers as top priority, imo.

Just go with the Mountain Map. Unlock the Quarry and panning as fast as you can. Then start recycling trash and make sure to get atleast 8 Charcoal Kilns. After you get those set up good I haven't checked but I assume they still sell Goedes in the Desert. If so this will unlock the sewers for you for weekly Iridium Sprinlkers. Once your mining gets high enough you should start spawning gold and make sure only to mine the quarry and Farm mine on lucky days. Don't forget you can convert iron to gold which means your recycling can give you refined Quartz, gold, coal, and iron.

Too late unfortunately. I'm on the vanilla map. Thanks for the advice though. Solid stuff.
