How to get to level 100 in skull caverns?

I got a note that says to go there (Please don't say what's down there) But I can't get even close to 100. Any tips on what to do?

Craftable staircases for one... For another, Search for holes to drop through rather than staircases down, as the holes can drop you 3-15 floors at a time (Make sure you have health and stamina before doing so, as the drop does hurt you)

Also bring lots of explosives loaded into your master slingshot, to quickly clear rocks and to kill mummies with.

I tried the craftable staircase tactic to try to get deep enough where the iridium is plentiful but I didn't get deep enough to get that much iridium (like floor 70) before it was too late and I had to go home.

Ok, so I was going to attempt the staircase thing again but apparently they raised the stone price to 100. So, there is no way I'm going to pay $99,900 for one stack of stone!!! So that tip is out : /

yeah that raised the price for some reason :D

it's super expensive now. but level 100 is hard without stairs imo
you could craft a lot of super bombs or use a mod that adds an elevator to the skull caverns

Yeah they went stupid overboard with the resource hikes. I think it's fine with clint. It's a little more expensive but not stupid. Wood and stone should double in price not five fold.

You dont want to just spam staircases, you want to do a quick search of the floor using explosives hoping for holes, if you dont find one in a short period, staircase to the next floor, repeat. So starting from floor one:

1: No hole, Use staircase
2: Hole, drops 8 floors
10: Hole, Drops 4 floors
14: No hole, use staircase

etc, etc. Dont waste time fighting if you dont need to, Dont stop for ores unless you happen to blow them up looking for a hole.

You can farm up stone in the regular mine, or at the quarry if unlocked, rather than buying it.

OMG I never realized you could put explosives into your slingshot. HOW HAVE I NEVER LEARNED THAT BEFORE?!

Because you cant put them into the regular slingshot, likely. You probably tried with the regular one, saw it wouldnt go in, and never tried it with the Master Slingshot.

I'm about to ask the same quetion. I can only reach floor 60 without stairs.

I buy or craft a ton of those giant red bombs, put down one to three on the floor I just got to if there's a lot of rocks, and hope for a hole. If there's not a hole or ladder, I put down a stair case, and if I can't immediately see a lot of rocks to blow up, I use a staircase. And as someone pointed out, luck helps for getting more holes.

Lucky day, lucky food, speed food, bombs and ofcourse some actual luck.

Or just farm 99*99 stones to build staircases - that's roughly 10 stacks of stones.

I think you can buy explosive ammunition.
