Chest Items went missing...

I went to bed and it automatically saved, then I hopped off for a bit and after about 2 hours or so came back to find some materials missing like Geodes, Stone ect.

Is this a glitch that has been going on for a while or what because I recently just got the game and I've been working at getting rid of excess materials in the field and now all my work is gone...

I guess another thing to add is I'm taking part in the multiplayer beta but I'm currently just playing on my Single Player file so I'm not really sure what to do.

I don't have a solution, but you're not alone at least. I have this exact same issue right now. I also automatically saved, so the items in my chest are gone for good. I'm also playing beta but on a single player file.

I have this problem too. I keep track of the items I have and need and it's not adding up. I've noticed at least a dozen items I marked down that I had which I don't now. These chests that they disappeared from are in my cave, on my farm and the fridge. It happened before and after I got married. Any update on this issue?

For the fridge, are you on multiplayer, and if so are you the host? I know that the the fridge wipes itself when the farmhands leave.

I thought the update on June 5th[community.playstarbound.com] was supposed to fix fridge issues.


@OP Did you change the color of the chest?
I've heard a number of people report that when they changed the color of their chest and then deposited items into the chest, it caused the deposited items to disappear when they closed the chest.
However, if they changed the color, closed the chest, opened it again, and then deposited the items, it worked fine.

I'm unsure if this issue has been addressed recently or not. So maybe this info applies to you, and maybe not.

Hmm it might have, I haven't played for a while on MP. But it was the only bug that makes things vanish that I know of.

No, I'm still playing the non-beta version, so no multiplayer. Sometimes it's one or two missing from a stack, other times it's a single item. It makes no sense to me...

Not sure about why the items are disappearing, but if they were there the previous in-game day, you could always do a one-day rollback by renaming the save files... Your game always keeps 2 saves: The current one, and the one from the previous day. You can't rollback more than 1 day, though, so be careful. And it's probably a good idea to occasionally make a manual backup of your save files, anyway. Just in case.

I'm wondering if I close out of the game after it tells me what I made for the day but before it saves? Because my relationships are lower too, like someone who had 2 hearts and I saw the cut scene is now 1 heart. So I'll just have to try to remember to make sure it saves and see if it continues.

Has anything changed in the past seven months? I'm on multiplayer non-beta with chests that I colored at the very beginning but it seems like some items that I deposit aren't staying. Is the solution to still just make sure everything is there and rollback if it isn't? Do the devs know about this?

I think my problem was that I would quit after the day was over but before it said it saved.

Playing in coop with my wife (we both got the game a few days ago) and we noticed a few items from a few chests are just gone... some bread (cooking) that we stored has disappeared... other stuff as well... trying to figure out what could be causing it (we do have a couple of mods installed, but none that should edit chests content)
