Can the farmhand take anything from my game and transfer it to their farm?

Nope they can't. Everything put into chests stay on your farm. I dont think any guests or farmhands can take anything off your farm.

When people join your game as a farmhand, they have to make a new character specifically for your farm. They can't take things from your farm and transfer them to another save, because their character and its inventory don't seem to be playable on other farms or in singleplayer. So, the worst thing they could do would be to take an item you want to use and keep it in their inventory on that character so that you can't access it.

No, that isn't how it works. They can take and use any items they find in-game, though. So be careful playing with randoms - they could toss your Galaxy Sword into the river, bomb all your crops and maybe have Robin delete your buildings?

You can just quit without saving, but I suppose if they were methodic about it they could KO you with bombs and make you pass out towards the end of the day?

... right, I forgot you can toss stuff into the river and whatnot... So yeah, as I and Fail and Hina have covered to varying amounts: people can definitely grief you. But they can't steal your stuff to use on their other farms.

Well, them making you pass out wouldn't be too much of an issue Unless things have changed with the new update and multiplayer the games makes a backup save of the previous day. So you could just load up that save if they messed up your farm and somehow got the game to save.

Make sure to drop two things into the item box every night, one stone and one wood. They can take one thing out of the item box, but the other will still be sold. The game won't save until AFTER that summary pops up, so it gives you a chance to quit without saving
