Why are they so expensive? Five iridium bars and one prismatic shard,, Marriage with your friends is definitely an end game goal. I think a diamond and a few gold bars would be better.

That's not really that expensive... prismatic shards and iridium are pretty easy to get after a certain point in single player, so with more players mining, it should theoretically let you get even more.

I don't know how you guys are finding these items/getting money so quickly because it takes me until year two to get prismatic shards and iridium bars. I got my first diamond (and only so far) during early fall. It is the end of fall in our game, and we are just about to unlock the bus stop. We have three people in our game.

In my first file I got prismatic shard somewhat early and was able to get at least 2 of them since I donated one to the museum and got the galaxy sword, and I've probably gotten several more than that

in most subsequent files I have never found prismatic shards, not sure if I'm just unlucky but is there actually a way to easily get them?

Go to the skull caverns on a lucky day, kill serpents to get spicy eel, which increases your luck even further (as well as your running speed), then kill lots of enemies. Using the burglar's ring you get for killing 500 dust sprites also helps, as it doubles monster item drop rates.

I see. I kind of wish something so lucky wasn't needed for so many things. That being said, I'm kind of wondering why they didn't just go with mermaid's pendant.

Thanks for the comments, guys! ^^ My group and I explore the caves together only on rainy days because watering plants on regular days took so much energy. Plus we all decided to do different plots for our crops.
