Do fruit trees grow in winter?
Probably a stupid question. I planted them back in spring, but... Well, the layout is all weird and not symmetrical and it's driving me nuts. Don't judge me. Anywho, do they grow in winter?

Yes, fruit trees will grow in the winter. If you plant them in late fall or in winter, they will grow through the winter, & bear fruit in the appropriate season

only winter crops grow in winter if you want spring in winter you need to unlock the greenhouse as you can plant any crop / trees any time of the year

Edit: if you planted them in spring, though, they should already be grown, & will be dormant in the winter

"Once per day, each tree or seed has a 20% chance of growing if it's not already fully-grown, and the season isn't winter (or it's in the Greenhouse)."

^from wiki.

Edit: Actually, the page on fruit trees contradicts that:

"Fruit saplings will grow during any season, allowing players to plant and prepare for upcoming season to bear fruit."

So. Update the page on trees to whatever's right OP :D

Fruit saplings will grow in winter if the 8 squares around them are clear of rocks, sticks, weeds, other trees, etc.

But they will not bear fruit in the winter except in the greenhouse.

You could plant a cherry tree on the first day of winter, and it will be ready to start bearing fruit at the start of spring.

You can put 18 fruit trees around the border of the greenhouse, and they will fruit in any season, including winter. Nice source of income in the winter.

You can grow 12 more fruit trees in the middle of the greenhouse, but this is probably not the best use of that space.

Don't plant cherries in the greenhouse. They aren't the best moneymakers. Plant Peaches or Pomegranate. They sell for the most and make the best wine and jelly. 18 pomegranate or peach trees in the greenhouse coupled with 54 preserves jars (which are quite easy to make) gives you a nice steady revenue stream all year.

Fruit tree article in wiki is helpful -- https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Fruit_Trees

I'll address this confusion, since the OP has been covered; the trees the first article refers to are the "wild" trees, that is maple, oak, and pine. Fruit trees are always called fruit trees, so all information for fruit trees fall under that specific title.

They will grow to adulthood all prepped for the new year but of course there are no fruits that grow in winter.
