Why is it so hard for me to find Artifacts?
I'm in Year 4, Winter now, and i have been grinding artifacts for the past year or so. I've tried tilling artifact spots (mostly in winter) every sing day and i even tried tilling soil in the mines! I've got 8 more to go and it's driving me crazy how rare these things are. Is there anything I'm missing? Help Appreciated :D

UPDATE: I FINALLY FOUND THEM ALL! Thanks for all the help, most helpul comment was carl8000's so if you're struggling yourself go read that (both of them).

Thanks for the help and very fast reply. Yes i have been looking on the wiki for the remaining artifacts and i will keep the location in mind that i need to grind but even then, it takes forever to find them still. I usually go everywhere on the horse looking for worms but in the mountains i only find 2 or 3 per day.

Make sure you're hunting for artifacts on a "good luck" day. ("fortune teller" TV channel)

really? i thought it was pre-detirmined and luck didn't effect it. And also, im hunting every day so i might use the bad luck days for something else. Thanks

I'm pretty sure you're right (i.e., luck doesn't affect digging results). The results for digging are determined at the beginning of each day, so you can run around and dig all the worms and if you don't get anything that you need, restart the day and leave the worms for the next day (when their results are re-rolled), rinse and repeat.

If you're doing it all just for the achievement though, you can always name a chicken after the item code for the artifact(s) you're missing, very exploitative obviously.

yea, was thinking of doing that but i want to do it legit. Also, do worms stay there if you restart and wait for the next day? I thought they de-spawned.
carl8000 Apr 25, 2018 @ 10:26am
They have a 10 or 20 percent chance to despawn (it's on a wiki somewhere), still worth it to keep them around since the alternative was getting something useless. It's good for the winter, since you can get like 7 or 8 (or more maybe) worms going everyday, really improves your odds.

Edit: I was curious so I checked and couldn't find an exact % on a first glance, so maybe I'm a little off, but I've used this strategy to get all the artifacts legit before, worms definitely have a greater than even chance of sticking around day to day.

There's mods to increase worm-rate.

Wait what? How does that chicken thing work? I have been digging up every dirt spot in the mines looking for the last dwarf book I need and haven't been able to find it. And I mean I've been digging almost every day for the last 2 in game years.

Google what the item id is for the thing that your missing, and then buy a chicken and name it [XXX] (where XXX is the item id). Whenever anyone says the name of the chicken, that item will appear in your inventory (Marnie will say the name of your chicken once when you buy it). It's sort of fun to mess around with--if you name your character [74], for example, you get a prismatic shard anytime anyone says hi to you, name him/her [74][163][645] to get a shard, Legend and an iridium sprinkler anytime someone says your name, etc. It obviously gets old fast though.

I had pretty good luck fishing artifacts up. It was how I got the Elvish Jewlery after a few seasons of digging around for it and sometimes you catch a little treasure chest inside of the normal treasure chest that sells for 5k and prismatic shards, ores and other stuff too along with the fish to sell or cook.

I forget how many of the artifacts can be fished up though, so I guess it depends on what you have left.

Good Luck!

Thanks! I am 1 step closer as I dug up 1 more yesterday. I think luck is what I've been needing. Also I have been grinding chests in fall from fishing, using magnet and treasure hunter and not found the elve ring yet.
