Few tips
- Fish if you have an energy to spare
- Collect as much golds as possible for strawberry, which will be available at 13th only. Which means, you should plant potatos till 6th.
- Don't sell grass, stones or woods. You will need every piece of them soon.
- Cut weeds (not grass) and collect mixed seeds.
- Dig up maple seeds, acorns, and pine cones. You can either replace them or make field snack.
- Build a silo.
Pay attention to Salmonberry season. You'll need to have at least some Foraging skill to take advantage of it, so do some scouting around the woods.
Build a chest.
Make a friend. I suggest starting with your grandpa's old friend Lewis. He's the one who gives you the parsnip seeds, which is a clue he likes them.
NEVER sell wood or stone. Even the weeds are useful. Open your crafting menu to see why.
Plant your seeds, harvest them.
Go into town, visit the store, and buy more seeds. Plant those. During your first year, you want to be reinvesting most of the money you make into more seeds/crops.
Plant at least a little bit of everything.
Save at least one of everything you harvest (saving several of everything is better).
Farming is pretty central to the game, it's certainly possible to avoid it, but that's more of an advanced, alternative way to play. For your first play through, expect to farm a lot. You should be planting as much as you can comfortably handle watering.
- Check the woods and mountains whenever you run out of chores/energy for forage. Foraging gives food and gifts and money for others and requires no energy. There's often spring onions in the ground in the bottom-right of the forest map, between Leah's cottage and the sewer entrance. They usually respawn daily, but only during Spring.
- At this stage in the game, energy is actually your rarest commodity. Typically, with the first watering can, you want to have between 20-40 crops at a time. If you want to conserve energy, do 20 expensive crops like cauliflower. If you want to make more money in a short period of time, grow like 40 potatoes. When you finish your farm chores, consider fishing for more food and money.
- Be careful when you unlock the mines. You'll unlock checkpoints every 5 floors, but if you run out of energy on the 4th floor, or get killed by a monster, you'll be unable to keep going. Losing all your energy makes you run slower, and losing all your health makes you lose money and maybe items?
Amazing, such an amazing & peaceful community.
