Chat Box

Is there a way to turn off or disable the chat box? I am constantly activating the chat box during game play leading to deaths during combat along my game getting stuck after unpausing during of which time goes by and I am unable to do anything at all. Help?

There is a super simple fix. Go into settings then controls and rebind the chat box key to something way away from the keys you use to play.

I think they mean that they click it when they're trying to click stuff on the bottom of the screen. I had that problem when I was trying to place a path on the exit to my farm.

Ohh, I see. Thanks Kinda Fail for pointing that out. I use my mouse wheel to scroll from item to item in my tool bar now, but in early days I remember having that problem.

To the OP: it took me a while to get used to it, but if you can consistently keep your inventory sorted, your pickaxe and weapon will always be in the number 1 and 2 spots; I also like to manually make sure my food source is in spot #3.

If you can make that a habit, you have two options for selecting toolbelt items: to use the mouse scroll wheel, or to select the correct number from your keyboard (1, 2, or 3). That way your cursor won't be in danger of accidentally clicking on the text box.

It might take some time to get used to it, but could be worth it. I definitely remember that chatbox pop up being a problem early on. Good luck.

You can also use a controller. I found I accidentally brought the chat box up a lot less when I started using a controller for most of the action.

Downside to using a controller is that it makes any diagonal action - mining, planting seeds, refilling a keg - a pain in the butt. Or at least that was my experience on Switch. I felt like I had to completely replan my farm after I learned how hard diagonals were.

I have the same problem, but it happens when your mouse pointer is just resting on the bottom of the screen, if you don't realise it's there it does the same thing, I just wish a fix could be put in for this because it is such a pain in the butt.
