1) if you don't water them
2) if you are unlucky enough to come across a bug(I hope it is a bug) that randomly causes some of your crops to not grow.
If I recall correctly, the crop growth is measured by hours, rather than by days, so if you water them in the morning they'll advance more than if you water them at night.(can someone confirm this? please?)
Crop growth is indeed measured in days, not hours; it doesn't matter if you water your crops at 6am or after midnight--the growth mechanism kicks in overnight, not before. So plan your days however you wish, as it makes no difference what time you water, as long as you do so everyday.
Stupid question, but did you make sure that you´re only planting crops in their right season? That would be the only thing that´come to my mind for them dying/ dissapearing ^^
