How to create a new NPC?

I'd really like to make a new character on Stardew Valley with their own story, but I'm not sure how... I'm fairly new to coding (and i'm a bit thick but lets not talk about that), so if you know, please act like you're explaining it to an idiot... Thanks in advance!

These pages are probably a good place to start finding the answers you need. Trying to resist the temptation to learn modding myself- had the idea of making an all-year (365/366 day) version and expanding the Joja/ community options. When you get too much into an awesome game! Note to brain: don't do this idea :) If I ever do this I'd consult Concerned Ape first just in case anything clashes with future ideas as it would be some quite big changes, something smaller like a new npc wouldn't have that issue.
