Grandpa interrupted by another cutscene

A friend and I are playing a co-op game (he's the main farmer, I'm the farmhand). We've just finished our second year, and should both have enough points for four candles. We go to bed on Winter 28, and get the visit from Grandpa's ghost, as expected, who tells both of us that we're much better farmers than he ever was. The next morning, my friend steps outside his farmhouse, and sees the candles on the shrine lighting up. So far, all is as expected.

But as it happens, I'd just gotten to 8 hearts with Leah, and so when I step outside my door, I get the cutscene of her inviting me to the art show. And then that's all-- No cutscene with the candles, and when I walk over to the shrine, they're not lit and I can't do anything with it.

I'm hoping that the candles cutscene will trigger tomorrow? If so, no big deal, I can wait another day. Or is it because I'm the farmhand-- Does the whole farm only get one Statue of Perfection? Or did I just get screwed out of my Statue?
