Motivation to play after year one?
Like 3 days of gold mining gets you enough resources to make a ♥♥♥♥ ton of sprinklers and then you can plant 500 of any crop without losing a drop of energy. At that point the game pretty much just plays itself as you just made fishing, mining, and foraging all obsolete by giving yourself a source of infinite money. Anything you would have done to get money in the early game is now pointless because it doesn't compare to how much your crop factory makes. There's stuff that can be done like catching the legendary fish or finishing up the town hall, but again that just goes back to having nothing to do until the items you need come in season. (I accidentally closed the window and had to retype all that lol) The game just feels like a time wasting simulator because the only thing you can do is sleep repeatedly until you can do whatever mini challenges are left to complete.

if all your focusing on is making money then the game will become boring fast, try to complete the community center without buying any of the required items and you'll find yourself staying up till 1am most days

Isn't too much incentive outside of a sandbox playstyle. Isn't quite the slow pace of harvest moon games, so replaying multiple years can get a bit tedious unless you want to just build a farm for the sake of having it.

I enjoy the game, but I don't disagree that there could be more of an "end game" appeal for those who enjoy playing with incentive. I guess we will see what the future updates will be bringing.

Did you not see the part where I said the only way to complete the community center is sleeping away every day until you get to the season where you can get what you need? How could you possibly find a way to stay up until 1 am every day trying to complete those?

Completing the fishing log. Repairing the Community Center. Finding all the Secret Notes. Finishing all the Slayer challenges. Getting everyone to 10 hearts. Getting married. Finishing the museum. Completely filling out your farm.

That's why you start doing when a new year begins. I always finish yhe community center in the first year, get to the bottom of the mines in the first spring and by the end of that spring I already have a ton of money.

That's funny, I didn't even feel like the game really started until year two. It takes most of year 1 to learn the ropes, crop cycles, mechanics of fishing and mining etc (unless you use a play guide before hand I suppose). I wasn't trying to "power play". I tried to vary my daily activities between fishing, foraging, farming and mining. I kept my farm small and manageable and just tried to earn enough money to purchase the upgrades at a reasonable pace. The game is much more fun, to me at least, if you just take it slow and easy and don't stress about having "everything" or earning a fortune.

The problem is that sprinklers are so broken and unbalanced that once you get them there's no reason to keep your farm at a "manageable" size because it doesn't need managing, it just spits out free cash at an exponential rate higher that any varied pecking around fishing and mining could. I think this entire problem could be solved by downloading a mod that removes sprinklers from the game, or at least makes them not painfully overpowered.

Complete the fishing log: sleep until the fish are in season
Repair the community center: sleep until the items are in season
Find all the secret notes/finishing the museum: it's just rng whether you find any of that, there's still nothing to do in the meantime
Getting everyone to 10 hearts/getting married: this does itself for you if you just right click every villager you walk past

Are you missing what my point was entirely? In the early game you have a motive to spend every day doing something and your limit is running out of time, everything you mentioned is stuff that just does itself with time and there's nothing to fill the massive boring gaps between other than spam sleeping in your bed

Trying to show the point to someone who already has concluded everything is pointless... is pointless. Everything that's been said has been refuted with "but there's still nothing to do." It seems like you're not really interested in those things and have already come to a conclusion, and that's fine. This game might require you to use your imagination in spots. If you'd rather have everything supplied to you without having to engage in that way, maybe this isn't the kind of game you're looking for.

No, they're all just things you can have like 90% finished by the first year without even making a conscious effort to do them. Everybody here is just posting the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥ suggestions and none of them answer the question: what is there to keep the game fun and worth playing after the first year?
