Library books disappear after i read them?

So I keep collecting lost books and then i go to the library and read them, but right after i do they disappear. Like, no trace of them at all, just the missing book notification, as if i had never found them. Is this a game feature or a bug or am i doing something wrong??

The little book icon will be gone after you read a book for the first time but if you click on the bookshelves you will be able to reread them again. It's a bit tricky!

They do that for me as well.

You are likely hitting the wrong part of the shelf. Each tile is a different book, even vertically, so it can be a little tricky to hit the part of the shelf you want.
