Egg festival morality
What kind of town is this? The egg festival traps you there for the entire day. If you leave, no matter what time of day you do not get back to your home until night. Do they lock up people trying to leave or something? You are not participating, so they take you into custody until the festival is over?

I wanted to drop some things off in the Community Centre to make some inventory room, but not an option.... Also noticed that you are really heavily penalized in this game if you do not buy the backpack asap....

That happens with any festival, it's just how the game handles special days like that. There might be a mod to do things on festival days but I wouldn't know I don't use mods.

And yeah, you do start with a small inventory but a bigger backpack is just another thing to work towards. I wouldn't call it penalized exactly, many games start you off with small inventories and weight limits or restrictions and you just move up as you progress.

for the inventory problem in general, you can make chests right from the start, this will help alot with storeage problems.
only thing where you really need bigger backpacks is when you visit the mines, specialy in the skull one the biggest backpack is musthave. but bcause it needs some time (and coins) to get there, geting the bigger backpack unitl than isnt a problem.

Also, since you can build chest from the start, it helps because you can put them everywhere in town. I have almost finish summer in Year 1, I upgrade my house (10 000g) but I didn't bougt the backpack yet.

I have chest scatter around town: one at the community center, one at the mine (very useful, I drop all the tools that I won't use in the mine before entering so I have more space for mine's item), one near the bridge for the beach, one at the museum, etc.

You get the idea. After that, it just a matter of organize your time and plan your day carefully.

Be careful where you put the chests. If it happens to be in the path of an NPC it will be destroyed or erased and the contents therein lost. There are images on the wiki of where you can place things and where you shouldn't, basically someone put a bunch of chests all over each map and let the NPCs erase those in their path. They did it for every screen of the original map.

The game typically puts you back on your farm at like 10pm. You don't pass out until like 2am. You've got time to jog to the community center and back.

It defeats the point though.. I wanted to make room so I had at least some inventory space to try to do something in the event with.... I could go to the community centre the next morning just as easily.

Good to know, thanks!

Its more of an implied "you spent all day having fun" thing, since most if not all festivals are catered by Gus. Too bad you can't actually eat or drink anything for the most part, the game is such a tease. Where's my pumpkin ale, huh?:P

Anyway, you have 3 hours to run to the community center and back, that's plenty of time especially if you've got coffee.

You're not being penalized for not springing for the backpack upgrades, the starting bag is a bit tight but you can easily make it work by storing tools and other items you don't need on hand in a chest. The watering can, axe, and pickaxe are the only ones you're likely to need on a daily basis.

You can make and place as many as you want, as well as color-code them for easy organization.

Ah, I didn't think of that! That's why the chest I put on the beach always dissapearing. I didn't understand why. Now it's crystal clear! Thanks for the info!

It's not that the town traps you. It's your own social sense of obligation that traps you.

a) They literally put up fences.
b) Regardless of what time you declare you are leaving and the fact that you acknowledge that you are ending the event early, you arrive back at your home at 10 pm.

This is how all events in the game work, so be ready for that in the future now.

Maybe you don't track time when you're participating in community rituals. As is the case in any other cutscene-inducing event. You're also readily forwarned of all these events.

You know the clock is on the screen and you can see the time when you try to leave the event, right? (Yes, I acknowledge now being forewarned. That does not change the fact that the town folk incarcerate you if you try to leave early).

Yup, you learn to use your day and go to festivals just before they close.
