Toggle Mods on/off?
Hey All,

Currently I play Stardew Multiplayer with a couple of friends. I am hosting. They want to play without mods, just straight vanilla. They want to do this because our playtime is limited and losing an entire day to a game crash really sucks.

Also, I want to play solo with mods. I've seen a bunch of cool mods that automate a lot of the tedious stuff (like crab traps) or gives more UI information or reminders. These mods look like they would be a lot of fun and I want to use them to explore content I never bothered exploring previously.

If I install SMAPI and download a few mods, can I toggle the mods "on/off"? I want to play vanilla with my friends and then with mods when I'm solo.

TL/DR
For me, its been awhile since I played Stardew so I want to explore content I never bothered doing before b/c it was tedious, annoying, or I just didn't know about it. I've been watching a bunch of different youtube vids (Dangerously Funny specifically) and I've seen a lot of very awesome and useful mods I want to try out.

My friends have read mods in multiplayer can cause instability and because we have very limited game time (maybe 3 hours a night, 2 or 3 days a week), they don't want to take a chance with losing a day in game or having the game crash or worst yet, a corrupted file. We've already have a game crash that resulted in a full day lost. I know its not *that* big of a deal, but for us it is due to our limited time together.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

and create a shortcut to the normal StardewValley.exe in the games files to start the game vanilla for MP

would be the easiest way

i'm curious too. also if anyone knows which mods arent game crashing in multi player. I removed my mods to play a new coop, put them back and opened my solo file and robin is stuck hammering away at my finished tractor. So as far as i can tell, removing and readding mods can work, my tractor is completely functional, but robin may be trapped forever.

Hm, well for Smapi to load the mods into the game, you actually launch the game from a different application (StardewModdingAPI). My thought is when you want to play with your friends, you run the game with the Stardew application and use the Modding API version for your solo play.

My mods are frequently toggled on and off with updates being out of wack and I haven't noticed an effect on my files (so far).

I have all the mods that really don't change the game too much. Health bars, look up anything, more detailed selling descriptions and the Zoom mod. No crashes for me so far.

Found the answer here and there is a youtuber named "that denver guy" that did a SMAPI install tutorial. Figured out how to create a shortcut to launch with mods and without.
