Minerals not added to my collection
Hi everyone,
I have to get two more minerals to complete the collection. However, I have one of them in my inventory but it's not being accepted or checked off. I tried dropping it and picking it back up, selling it, giving it to Gunther, and leaving it in my inventory over night, Nothing has worked. I've picked up multiple over a few weeks in game time. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Pretty sure he means the collection in the menu and not the museum. Doesn't that only show the stuff you've shipped? Try putting 'em in your shipping box

Minerals and Artifacts don't need to be shipped to count in a collection. Nevertheless, I have shipped them in the past and they still haven't shown up.

Depends on how you received the item. From what I have been told before, anything handed to you will not count. For example, if you use a spawner mod or multiplayer I think. How did you receive it?

I've found it in a geode and received it after killing slimes. The other, I mined.

Unless it's a bug there are a few possibilities- I don't know if selling items to the shops counts as having shipped them for the shipped items or vice-versa (I have a theory it doesn't- only putting them in the shipping bin does), sometimes how things are done affects things (such as if you already have enough items for a quest sometimes if you've stored them in a chest you have to take them out one at a time). It may not count sometimes- I've not noticed if this is the case or not- if they item's unknown (minerals and artifacts are unknowns until you've taken one to the museum and get its description next time you find one), some things maybe don't count if you got them an easier way such a through a gift, foraging or special shop items. Just some theories, not sure which if any is correct!

Some specific info could help- there are various collections such as the community centre bundles, the museum items, groups and overall full museum collection, what are the items and the context? What are you aiming to complete and use them for?

Another thought- is the same thing needed for multiple quests/ collections? It might have counted them towards something else, or there could be a bug where it's doing something along those lines- hope you solve the problem.

Also sometimes for quests you have to speak to a particular character to complete it, as you do with Clint when you've got the ores he wants or Gunther to collect the museum reward (If it's the museum have you checked for rewards awaiting collection? Just a thought, I know you know that but might be worth speaking to Gunther just in case you get a 'collect reward' option.)

Backing up the savefile now and every so often just in case might be wise.

Another longshot, but sometimes I've found cutscenes certain events like heart levels trigger don't happen straight away always, could it be cutscene related (also skipping some cutscenes can cause issues according to some wiki/forum posts), there are sometimes specifics to events triggered by something being achieved such as the dog/cat you get after hitting a certain earnings level or if not after x amount of time happens on a specific weekday- maybe the game hasn't done (or perhaps updated) a particular item/conditions check or event trigger yet?

Worth solving this problem you're having as if it's a bug or logic flaw somewhere others could hit the same stumbling block.

Final thought: also are you using any mods, that could of course introduce something that's causing the problem.
