You can't use sprinklers, just a heads up.

You also can't plant ancient seeds or walk through your crops. So I'd say make them in columns for easy bulk watering and access. Anything outside the bulk water zone, retaining soil in the plot. There are more efficient patterns but they will take longer to water. Reserve the shed for high value plants; starfruit for example. This is a labor-intensive plan so you don't want to be doing this for wheat and parsnips.

I was making a second Greenhouse so that I can grow out-of-season crops for the Polyculture achievement

You could just edit the Greenhouse Map a bit to give more room
:)
I have mine set up so that I can walk out-of-bounds to pick up those annoying peaches that sometimes fall into the void.

naw, I'm trying to get all the achievements. As I recall, Steam Achievements don't activate if you are using SMAPI or whatever its called.

Why do you assume SMAPI needs to be used for mods?

because thats what I had to use when the game was released when I was experimenting with it.

It doesn't need to be used for all mods. (mods which simply modify existing areas won't need it.)
However, I would consider using a mod cheating, since you're modifying the game.

They do. Been modded ever since I started multiplayer and we learned how very rudimentary the multiplayer mode is.

You *do not* need any mod loaders to edit base maps, sprite sheets, or characters.

XNBExtract and Tiled are the only 2 tools you need. Stardew Valley does not verify the base maps when doing acheavements.

Edit: you can also edit recipes, events, NPC 'souls', crop behavior, shops, animals ... pretty much everything without using mod loaders.
