Family Share Question
Can I family share this game with my GF so we can both play it together or does she need a separate copy?

Unfortunately you can't do co-op with family share, the way it works is the other person can play any game they want but get booted if you decide to play the same game.

It'd be nice if they gave perhaps a 2-4 person limit on it, it wouldn't be much different than playing locally on consoles, but they would have to get enough studios on board or make it opt-in. Most probably like that you can't share games like that on PC though.

with family share (my husband and I do it) you need your own copy to play together. (unless you got it on gog as that is DMR free I would think) if you are playing a game from your GF's library then she starts playing a game it would give you a warning that you will be kicked off the game in about 5 minutes, whether it same game or not only one person can play a game from that library at a time

if the steam account that owns stardew valley is in offline mode and not actually connected to steam, it wouldnt be able to send a check as steam would have no way of knowing your running the game, and last i checked their are alternative ways to connect to other players besides via steam, so it should be possible.

Unfortunately Valve patched that, Steam forces you to close the game before going offline. What 'might' work is disconnecting the internet on your end, since Steam ordinarily won't force games closed if you lose the connection. Or simply logging into Steam on the other PC.

Yes, except for the part where Steam doesn't allow offline mode while using family sharing or vice versa. I wasn't trying to contradict you, I was pointing out the only way fooling the system could work is the old fashioned way, shutting off your internet connection.

There is way to block steams connection without going to offline mode and thats by changing firewall settings

Good thing you asked now. The game is 40% off for 3 more days.
