Gifting: Quality Crops vs base Cooking or Artisan
George love Fried Mushrooms and Leeks. For his birthday, is it better to give him a gold star leek than a hot steaming plate of fried mushrooms? From the wiki, it looks like the leek would net 25% more points.

Seems logical that any cooking -should- be equivalent to a gold star crop, but just wondering if anyone's actually confirmed that a cooked dish is the same as a base level crop.

As far as I understand it, anything that has a star by it gets a multiplier, things that can't have a star will just get the basic level. (Just like if someone Loves amethyst and prismatic shards, they'll get the same number of friendship points for either one, even though obviously a prismatic shard is way more valuable.) So, yeah, give him the fancy leek.

Every item that can be gifted falls into one of five categories: love, like, neutral, dislike, or hate. Any gift of neutral or better generates positive points, dislikes and hates generate negatives.

Example: Abigail likes Cheese. Giving her regular cheese gets +45 points.

Quality items add a percentage; 10% at silver quality, 50% at iridium quality.

Example: Giving Abigail iridium-quality aged Cheese gets +67 points.

But this bonus is never enough to match a gift the next level up.

Example: Abigail loves amethyst. Giving her an amethyst is +80 points.

Cost doesn't matter, just which category it's in.

Example: Abigail loves pumpkin. Giving her a regular pumpkin is +80 points. Pumpkin is more than three times as expensive as amethyst.

But sometimes you can't beat the multiplier, especially on a birthday.

Example: A gold-quality pumpkin to Abigail is +100 points. As a birthday gift it is worth a total of +800 points. That's a little over three hearts in a single gift.

OP was talking about two things in the same category, though.

Ah, misread.

If it doesn't have a star, it doesn't have a star. Like I said with the pumpkin example; the type of resource doesn't matter, the gold price, the difficulty to create, none of it. Only if it has a star or not.

Most people don't have great options for loves with stars. Most people only love things that can't have stars or are far too valuable to waste on everyday gifts.
