Crab Pots Gold Per Day Thoughts
I'm in the Winter of year 3 with a green house packed with ancient fruit plants minus 4 soil squares for sprinklers and 1 of every fruit tree except peach/pomegranate which makes the bulk, 2 sheds maxed with kegs, a cellar maxed with casks, a shed with 22 Crystalariums, etc. I also managed to get all but 3-4 achievements so far and have max hearts with every NPC.

One of the last big investments I made in an attempt to always stay busy is to go from 11 crab pots at the beach to nearly 300 -- happened over 3 days --. It's probably more like 280, but I can't tell for sure because if I start with 999 bait I end up missing at least 8 while making the rounds baiting them. I also have 20+ recycling machines around the beach which is not fully able to keep up with demand; maybe 35-40 would suffice. I sell the refined quartz, cloth and torches. I keep the wood, stone, coal and iron ore. I sell the crabs, lobster, clams, etc and turn everything valued at less than 75g into sashimi; I get about 100 sashimi a day, so more than 1/3 turns into this 75g cooking.

The money you get from the pots on average per day varies based on which professions you've chosen. I have to bait all my pots with bait bought from Willy for 5g each, but the fish I sell are worth 50% more with the Angler profession. I can tell you that the median/mode gold per day is 75g because of the sashimi and that most likely the pots at the beach are worth more than the fresh water ones. The resources you get from recycling shouldn't be overlooked, but torches are trash, :tank: yet you have a 1/10 chance of getting cloth from newspaper recycling worth 658g with the Artisan profession.

Depending on how much recycling is done and what is recycled, the daily earnings are 15Kg-20Kg for me. If you buy the pots from Willy for 1,500 and you have the Angler and Artisan perks, they pay for themselves within a season. On average a pot must be giving 50-70g if you keep the wood, stone, coal and iron ore. If you otherwise would be buying those resources gained by recycling it makes them way more valuable. By comparison a Crystalarium with a diamond should be giving 195g per day with the Gemologist profession; stupid easy money if you can make them.

Kegs making Pale Ale and Wines are a much less labor intensive task for cash while the 300ish crab pots will give you Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. They both add up to tons of cash and can be worked side-by-side on most days you're not mining, gift giving, etc.

My goal right now is to amass enough stone to dig hundreds of levels into the Skull Cavern of a lucky day to get 1K+ iridium ore. I typically get to level 30-50 and come back with maybe 20-30 ore, yet I still spent tons of money on bombs. I'd rather blow a bunch of money on stone to cheese down to the bottom and make those bombs count. I gotta do this at least once, there's not much else to do now except get Carpal Tunnel Syndrome on these pots.

Anyone have anything to add to this?

If you plan to amass $ to buy stones, go with pigs with botanist skill. I have 40 pigs, and they net you roughly 70K-90K daily with minimal labor. Save you time, money and wrist.

Holy crap that's a lot of crab pots and a lot of work! Try making preserves it's easier.

Why are you buying bait from Willy? Simply craft wormbins that dump the bait into the chest, which should and use AUTOMATE mod. Its the sickest automation mod for Stardew Valley. That way you can have 300+ crab pots connected on the shoreline and somewhere in the middle, a single chest connected to a crabpot. Now the bait will pass through all the pots and be populated every morning, and then all the items will be pushed into the chest. The bait should not run out if you have enough worm bins. Warning, once you try automate, its hard to go back....

Preserve jars get less profit than kegs per item unless the base product is worth 50 or less. Blue Berry wine and jelly are worth the same, yet the wine takes 7 days and the preserves takes 2.78 days.

The resources needed to make kegs didn't require hardwood so I went that rout. The gold per day is better with preserves, but total gold is better with wine with more valuable items. IDK if anything has the best balance of Pale Ale. The only downsides to Pale Ale are that the hops trellis complicates farming and that it's only a Summer crop.

It's easy to justify eating a crab cake every morning if it means a +1 speed boost through out the day. You never run out of crab with all those pots. This is something I just started doing after setting up the hundreds of crab pots at the beach. If you intend to not eat another stat buff from cooking, eat a crab cake first thing in the morning.

I do like the sound of this. I haven't modded my game for 3 reasons mostly.

1. Updates to games can breaks mods and screw things up.
2. Kinda lazy about setting up mods.
3. There'd be no game left to play with mod cheats.
