Ducks and Rain
I find it very unusual that ducks have no interest in coming outside during the rain. Why is this? Is there a blanket code for all animals to not like rain? That's about the only reason I can think of. If each species can be individually given weather preferences, I think it'd be great if the ducks didn't hide indoors like chickens. If not, well, I guess that's too bad.

Yes. Winter too.

Hmm. Now that I think about it, although my cat stays indoors during the rain, it does go out in the winter even when snowing. So unless there's two pet groupings, one for cat/dog and one for poultry/livestock, it almost seems like they could have weather preferences on a per creature basis. Hard to say how specific they coded these things though.

Oh, by "animals" in your first post I assumed you only mean livestock. Pets are different, they do go outside in winter.

I see. Thanks.

When I worked on an organic farm, animals (including ducks) stayed inside from the rain. Heck, they are a lot like us in a way. If it is really hot sunny they will go for shade or back in doors if they could.

Yeah there are about a hundred ducks that hang out on a pond outside my office window, and when it rains they definitely seek whatever shelter they can find.

I've been around ducks my whole life and they've always loved being out in the rain. Even if it's storming and windy, they'll sometimes still stand out in it like they can't get enough.
