how to meet gunther?

does anyone know how to meet gunther when i talk to him in the library he just keeps repeating the same line and it doesn't say i met him and he never leaves

also who has long brown hair, a brown overcoat, and a green undershirt and how do i meet them

You go to the museum and speak with him

Gunther doesn't count towards the introductions quest and doesn't show up on the social tab. The only reason he's in the game is to accept museum donations, so if you can do that then he's working as normal.

As to your second question, I believe that's Elliot. He lives in the cabin on the beach. He'll usually stand on the beach around midday, though he can be seen on the bridge to the beach in the afternoon on occasion. Thursday he goes to Pierre's around midday and stays there 'til closing. He also goes to the saloon around 5 on either Friday or Sunday.

As a tip for the future: the wiki has almost everything you could ever want to know on the game, including villager schedules (and the gifts they like). The above paragraph is from Elliot's Spring schedule.
