There's one farming game I've seen that looks just like SV but with worse graphics and gameplay, but I always forget the name because I've never seen anyone actually play it from these forums...
EDIT: Found it. It was called World's Dawn. There's another game called Wayward that looks similar to SV in the crafting/gathering department, but it's more of a survival game, I think. Build a house, grow food, etc...
I think Feel The Snow is similar to SV but more of the survival kind as well? I got it some months ago but haven't played it yet, it just reminds me of SV a lot.
World's Dawn- It's an rpg maker game and as a result is much simpler gameplay wise than Stardew but the writing and charming small town feel are absolutely top notch.
Farming Fantasy: Orange Season- Currently in early access but it's looking good so far and the dev has been really dedicated about listening to feedback and continuing to work on the game.
My Time at Portia- I haven't tried it myself but it looks pretty good and is coming to early access in January. It also has a demo.
Verdant Skies- Upcoming game. Similar style game but in a more sci fi setting.
Rite of Life- Also upcoming. It was kickstarter funded and there's more info about it on their kickstarter page than their steam page.
Thanks for this info! I'm following a few of these now. Much appreciated!
I honestly wouldn't describe it much as either. I like the game (own it on PS4) but it's more of a wander around exploring, gathering, crafting game but with no combat, very little social elements and a very kind of zen/chill vibe. The farming elements are there but they are fairly simple in part because the game wants you to be able to wander around and explore rather than being tied down to your farm responsibilities (for example as far as planting crops goes you simply barter for the garden plot, set it on your farm, place seeds in the spaces available, and then it grows and harvests itself over time. You don't even need to water it).
I would still recommend people give it a chance but just understand that if you are looking for Zelda Style combat and dungeons it's not there and if you are looking for an in depth farming/social combo like a harvest moon game that's not really it either. I still think it's a good game but it's just not really either of those things, at least in my opinion from what I've played.
