Question about gender in this game
So, i've been a harvest moon player for a long time and decided to try this game out. On harvest moon games there were levels of friendships you could build with npcs giving them stuffs they liked in order to get more friendship points unlocking new events and stuff with them.

it was all right doing that in harvest moon since there were few marriable chracters ,in my case for example: i am a straight man so i didn't have to worry about giving gifts to male characters because i knew this would only increase friendship, the same applied to old women npcs since they didn't match with the main character's age.

But i heard that this game has same gender relationship and it makes things a little more complicated to me , because i don't want to worry or keep checking websites in order to maintain friendship level with male npcs in a way it doesn't become something else besides friendship. Also in some harvest moon games if you had a unique loving event with a girl you liked , the friendship level of yours with the other girls decreased whereas it increased with the girl you went to the event with. And this could be a problem if it worked that way in SV.

I don't know if it works like that in stardew valley, but i wanted to know from you how it works in there

you have to give them an item to get into a relationship with any character other than that it will just be friendship

in stardew valley the only way to not be friends is to directly ask the character in question out, with a bouquet sold at pierre's. this goes for both genders in the game that are date-able and such. in short, don't worry about it and just ask someone out with the flower bouquet when you get to that certain heart level of friendship

your friendship with other characters wont decrease as well. as long as you dont date the entire town or entire group of gals/guys, youre all good man
oh that's a relief , i'm the kind of player who thinks in all pre-requeriments for the future before starting or while playing and having to worry with these details would have screwed with my game experience, glad to know i can focus in a girl's relationship without affecting my friendship level with the guys
OH GREAT !! looks like i don't need to worry about anything because i can't even start the game because it crashes on launch: "stardew valley stoped working"

One or two of the characters might have a crush on you by 8 hearts, but the game never shows you to reciprocate those feelings until after you give them a bouquet and get them to 10 hearts.

(For example, one NPC's cutscene shows you sharing a bed with them at 10 hearts, and another has the two of you kiss on a hot air balloon.)

A few of the 8-heart events, namely Abigail's comes to mind, show that the NPC is starting to develop feelings for you, but it's up to the player to decide whether they want to take it further. 8 hearts for the marriage candidates is basically "best friend level".

Check the integrity of the game files.

All of Stardew Valley's eligible bachelors and bachelorettes are conveniently bisexual.

no, they are attracted to the PC's gender.

if you date Leah her ex will be the PC's gender. always, they are NOT bisexual.

The fact that you can date them regardless of your character's gender is what makes it conveniently bisexual. Taking the details literally doesn't matter at all in the slightest.

There are some characters that state they haven't or don't usually feel intimate towards people of the same sex. That implies that they are in fact bisexual whether they known it or are just discovering it to be with with your character.

But again as i mentioned before that doesn't actually matter.

They'll date whatever you character is. That is bisexuality. :pandastunned:

Yet each bachelor/bachelorette has an opposite sex counterpart they're supposed to end up with it you don't marry them. Either this game features the Schrodinger's cat of relationships, or they're conveniently bisexual for the sake of gameplay.

what happen if you do so?

Needless to say you get yourself into a whole heap of trouble, and there's a cutscene of you being confronted to go along with it that of course ends with you getting dumped.

I've always heard it referred to as "playersexual." Dragon Age, for example, has canonically bisexual characters, because they sleep with someone other than the player. Stardew Valley, on the other hand, is ONLY their "partner", plus the player. So Alex is with Haley, 100%, until the player comes along. There's no chance that Alex would ever date, say, Sam or Sebastian, regardless of what my fanfiction says.

Leah is the only one who can be seen to date a woman, despite being "paired" with Elliot, so she's canonically bisexual. The rest are playersexual, but then again, it's a videogame so it really doesn't matter. If you want the bi representation, go nuts! It's your own experience, do it how you want to.
