how do you put bait on ur rod

Left-click on the bait, then right-click on the rod.

Right-click on the rod again to remove the bait (if you need it for something else, like baiting traps).

Note that it must be at least a Fiberglass Rod.

If you are using a gamepad., such as the Xbox One controller. Press the X button on the bait, then press X again over the fishing rod.

just to note the bamboo pole is unable to be equipped with bait then also to note is that the fiberglass rod is unable to be equipped with tackle when it becomes availiable.

You have to have the fiberglass rod, you can't put bait on the bamboo rod. Then to do it, hit esacpe key, click on the bait and right click on the rod. You'll hear a sound.

You can alternativly hit "E" which will bring up your inventory then do the same steps you meantioned minus the "esc key" thing.
