Copper Pickaxe vs Regular Pickaxe
Was just about to upgrade my pickace to copper on my second playthrough and on the wiki saw that the benefit is that it breaks 2x2 stones in the mine. My regular pickaxe already breaks 2x2 stones in the mine. Is there another benefit or has my game been bugged or something?

Rocks will require less swings to break. Less swings - less energy used - more ♥♥♥♥ you can do each day.

As you go lower in the mines, some of the gem rocks are harder to break. A better pickaxe takes less swings & saves energy. The only tool I upgrade just once is my hoe. I've tried it in different games by not upgrading at all & upgrading to the best, but see no difference in how that tool works. I did look at my last couple games & I seem to stop at the gold upgrades. Only in one game did I upgrade most of the tools to iridium. At the very least, upgrading your pickaxe to iron should be done.

Click and hold rather than just clicking. You'll be able to do multiple squares in one swing, depending on how upgraded the tool is. Works for the watering can as well.

Thanks for telling me that. I never do that on my watering can (and don't upgrade it either) so this is why I didn't realize it worked for the hoe too. Good tip!

what do you mean 2x2 stones? pickaxes can't be charged

There's gonna be stuff you can't break with even a steel pickaxe so keep upgrading when you have the money to waste.

You'll need a gold pickaxe to break meteorites. I don't recall a huge benefit in upgrading just to copper, but I definitely notice higher levels taking less hits to break most rocks, gold ore veins, etc.

2x2 means they take up a 2x2 square. As in, the rocks that takes 8 hits to break, will now take 6 hits to break.
