Can't talk to people? Or enter buildings

So I just got this game, I'm on day one and I can't talk to anyone or enter any buildings or click on my mailbox or anything... It's really annoying :/ can anyone tell me what to do? I am going to uninstall the game and reinstall it to see if that works.. But if anyone has had this problem and has been able to fix it please let me know.

I just remember being confused about the controls when I first started, and had trouble figuring out how to use things. I kept moving my furniture and putting it in my pocket. Total hot mess. Probably wasted half the day just trying to figure out how to put stuff back down and get out of the house! Your first instinct is to left click on everything to interact, sometimes.

Yea that's what it was, I wasn't right clicking lol I feel stupid but I also didnt have a mouse and was just using my laptop so it was very tricky for me.
