Can't enter Elliot's house when he's home to trigger cutscene

I've been at 2 hearts (now 3) with Elliot for several days. I gather from the Wiki that there should be a cutscene that triggers when I enter his house while he's home, to progress our relationship. However whenever he is at home, or walking to his house, it tells me 'it's locked'. I've been in there before when he wasn't home, but not while he's there. Any suggestions?

If anyone else is having the problem, I went into his house while he was out and waited until he came back, then left. At that point I was able to re-enter the house and the cutscene triggered.

it opens at I think 10 am and closes at 6 pm, if you try to enter anytime outside of those hours it will be locked whether he's home or not. if you try to enter during those hours you will always be able to enter (if you have at least 2 hearts with him) whether he's there or not

If it says "It's Locked" then it means that he's sleeping.
