how long do strawberry/other regenerating plants last in the greenhouse?
so i have the greenhouse and it is half filled with strawberry plants, i dont know if i should delete them for more rare and valuable crops, or if eventually they will just die. if they dont die, is that not exploitable? non stop money with no downside or whatever

The plants that reproduce (Strawberries, Blueberries, Cranberries, Beans, Hops, etc.) will just keep reproducing crops indefinitely, yes.

Yes, it's a lot of money, it still takes time to harvest and process, and your space in the greenhouse is limited. Choose what you want to grow wisely.

Most people use it for Berries, or Ancient Seeds.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure single growth crops like pumpkins, melons, starfruit do better than their regrowing counterparts cranberries, blueberries and ancient fruit...

It's just that you have to rebuy seeds. If you stock up on seeds in advance, you're golden.

yeah I'm using half for the strawberries and half for star fruits, which im wine-ing and aging in my cellar. I am looking for another ancient fruit because when i found my first one i wasted it before i got the greenhouse. I think i'll just get rid of them and use the whole greenhouse for star fruit until i find ancient seeds

The single best thing you can plant in the greenhouse are Peach or Pomegranate trees, as long as you have sufficient kegs to process all the fruit to wine(7/tree). Following that is Hops as long as you have the kegs(2/plant) to process it to Pale Ale. The filler for the squares that need to be walkable to get between the hops trellises is best filled by Ancient Fruit, again processing it in kegs(1/plant) to wine.

And those people are head damaged. The entire point of the greenhouse is you can grow crops when they're out of season. Ancient Fruit grow in all seasons but winter, so why would you waste greenhouse space on them over a crop that only grows in one.

Because Ancient Seeds can't be bought at the store?
And they take an entire season to grow?
And once you plant them in the Greenhouse, they grow forever?

They're a low maintenence crop you can put in the Greenhouse and dump the product into Kegs and make large profits with minimal work. What's not to love?

You're stating known facts that are not even remotely relevant to the point.

Starfruit - Only grow in Summer.
Sweet Gem Berries - Only grow in Fall.
Ancient Fruit - Spring, Summer and Fall.

Why would you spend limited greenhouse space on a crop that you could just plant outside over an equally valuable crop that's out of season? It's absolutely wasteful.

Spare me the attitude.

It's a low-attention-required crop that's difficult and/or annoying to replace.

If you want to run around min/maxing every second of potential growth, that's certainly your perogative. Other people would rather have a high value crop that they don't have to spend as much time on maintaining.

Maximized profit might be YOUR goal, not everyone is you.

Typically, people grow seasonal crops outdoors, and multiseason crops like coffee, ancient fruit in the greenhouse. Starfruit is a perfectly viable option, sure.

But you act like growing a ton of ancient fruit or even worse, the sweet gem berry, outside on your farm en masse is feasible. You could, eventually, get enough seeds to fill your farm with ancient fruit - sure. But sweet gem berries? It would take FOREVER to get enough seeds to fill your farm. There's no reliable way to get the seeds in large quantities.

The point of putting ancient fruit in your greenhouse is because it takes forever and is hard to get a bunch of seeds for. Also, if you've got the kegs, I'm pretty sure it's better than starfruit, as it grows in half the time for more than half the money. Plus, you don't have to re-buy seeds.

Plus, people generally like farming seasonal crops outside. I know I do. I wouldn't want a farm full of ancient fruit, I want a greenhouse full of them and a giant field of pumpkins and corn, or melons and blueberries.
