So what exactly is Jas, Shane and Marnie's deal? (possible spoilers)

I don't really follow a lot of SV-related chatter so excuse me if this is something people have already talked to death.

So, Lewis doesn't want anyone in town knowing about Marnie and him, and I have always wondered why. What would be the big scandal about two single adults having a relationship?

Also, I had always thought Jas was Marnie's daughter, but according to the wiki, she's marnie's niece. So then I assumed Jas and Shane were siblings, but then saw on wiki that Shane is suppose to be Jas' godfather. Er?

So what is going on with this family and does it having anything to do with why Lewis is worried that people in town will find out about he and Marnie rolling in the hay?

My personal little theory is that Marnie is the Witch's (Wizard's ex-wife) sister, Jas is the Wizard's daughter whom Marnie is now raising, that this is all a big secret that no one in town talks about about. And then some how Shane gets thrown into this mix. Yeah, I don't know how Shane is suppose to fit into this, but to me Jas makes a better choice for the Wizard's supposed daughter than Emily or Abigail (which i have seen others suggest) and it explains why Lewis is freaked out about people seeing Marnie and him as a couple.

I always thought Shane and Marnie were siblings. But the wiki says otherwise. I just got the conversation from the wizard about his daughter (today actually). I have no idea what to think about that.

I just assumed Lewis didn't want anyone to know we was dating Marnie because that might open him up to accusations of favoritism. But, your theory is much more interesting.

I recall it being mentioned that Shane was friends with Jas' parents, hence both being her godfather and taking care of her after they died.

If you talk to Abigail and her family you learn her mother used to spend alot of time in the west forest by the wizard tower and on top of the fact that Abigail has purple hair (which see can never remember dyeing) goes to reinforce her being the Wizard's daughter through Caroline.
My best guess is that Shane wound up with Jas one way or another as her godfather, and then moved in with Marnie so she could help raise Jas.
As far as Lewis not wanting anyone to know, I'm guessing that he would think he'd never hear the end of it if it was made public that a man his age still had soem gusto left.

Marnie is Shane and Jas' Aunt.

Shane is Jas' godfather, which implies that Marnie had at least two siblings and Shane and Jas are each the child of one of them. What the details of how the two of them got to Sardew Valley and why they live with Marnie instead of their own parents isn't explained (and my guess would be that there was some tragedy involved, but that's just a guess).

It is strongly implied (and even mentioned in the wiki) that Abby, not Jas, is the Wizard's daughter.

It's directly mentioned that Marnie is Shane's aunt, but it's never directly stated that Jas is the neice of Marnie. IMO, I doubt Jas and Marnie are related by blood.

If you attempt to talk to Jas when you aren't good friends with her, she will say something to the effect of "Oh, are you looking for Aunt Marnie?"

So, yeah, there is actually an explicit indication that Marnie is Jas' Aunt.

My bad, never got that dialouge. Does Marnie ever say anything about siblings? For Marnie to be aunt to both Shane and Jas then
A) She would need at least two siblings that had Shane and Jas seperatly, making them cousins, or
B) Shane and Jas are siblings

EDIT: Also, it occured to me that just because Jas says "Aunt Marnie", that doesn't mean Marnie is her aunt by blood. It could be that "Aunt" is just what Jas calls her.

Well, I suppose it's not IMPOSSIBLE that an older brother could be a godfather, but ... it's pretty unlikely. So, I think they're probably cousins, not siblings.

So, there are two possible circumstances now:

A) Shane is Marnie's nephew, received custody of Jas from friends and moved in with Marnie. "Aunt" just being what Jas calls Marnie.

B) Shane is Jas's cousin and godfather and they moved in with Marnie. Marnie being Jas's Aunt by blood here.

Right, the question now is if Jas is related to Marnie by blood.

Yes, Marnie says (something to the effect of) "My nephew Shane has been staying with me..." and then talks about him helping out with the chickens.

shane says that him, marnie, and jas are kind of like a weird family, and then goes on to say that he never had much of a family as a kid, so that rules out him being jas' brother. the wiki says he's her Godfather, not sure where they got that from, he might be but I'm pretty sure he's also her cousin since they both refer to Marnie as their aunt.

as for lewis, I'm pretty sure they think it would look bizarre because lewis is significantly older than her, but I'm not against the idea of jas being the wizard's daughter. the situation with the witch was implied to happen more recently, with jas and vincent being only about 7 years old and abigail being 18-20 something. furthermore caroline says abigail was born with brown hair (the same color as pierre's) and I don't see any reason to have that dialogue if it's always been purple.

I'm kind of hoping implying that it's abigail is just concernedape intentionally leading people on before revealing that it's someone else, because there are too many inconsistencies with the abigail theory.

After reading through the wiki pages again and looking at both Jas's and Abigail's portraits, I am starting to wonder about the legitamacy of Abigail being the Wizard's daughter. What I wonder though, is that Caroline says Abigail has brown hair similar to her grandmother's and hates that she dyes it, but Caroline has GREEN HAIR.

hmm...maybe she meant pierre's mom, or maybe caroline's dad has green hair? not sure
