I got an iridium watering can year 1, am I pro?

This is like my 3rd playthrpugh, but 1st on wilderness farm, and I got the iridium watering can a lot quicker than usual, just wandering when you guys got your first iridium upgrade?

The 3x3 cast of a gold can is ideal, on the rare occasion you actually water your own crops like some kind of poor person.

Yea, the only thing I ever upgraded to Iridium was my pickaxe and just used sprinklers. Though I did get everything else up to gold, except the watering can. That was upgraded once.

Yeah, I have never upgraded my watering can a single time in any playthrough; my goal is always to get to the point of never watering a single crop as quickly as possible, preferably with quality sprinklers by Summer 1.

I mean, at a point, you may as well kick everything but the pickaxe up to gold just on the off chance you want a quick 3x3. You're gonna have more gold bars than you know what to do with by winter.

Why water can? Those 5 iridum could be 5 amazing sprinklers that do the work for you.

I haven't used my water can in many seasons. Even on first day of a season i don't water anything, i just let it get auto watered the next day, this way i can plant even more crops on day1.

Only thing I use watering can for is a row of 10 trellis crops. They're kind of annoying to use a sprinkler with (unless Iridium), and the Steel version can water x5 in front of you (5 on each side makes 10).

That's about the only watering I do after the 2nd or 3rd month. Once you get Iridium, it ceases to matter anyways.

If you don't water plants right after tilling soil and planting them, won't they miss a day of growth?

They do, but it's a small sacrifice to planting more.

It takes time to water and if you've got 1500 spaces to water you don't necessarily have it - especially on your first day of the month. You'll need to purchase seeds if you don't have a stockpile already, plus clear and till the land from any after-season growth.

Yep it's better to plant more seeds than try to water them day1.

+ I did the math on most crops, and for 95% of them you don't lose any production over the season if you are one day late. So there is no downside! Focus on planting instead of watering.

I routinly leave my seasonal regrowing crops planted through season change. This way the withered plant keeps the till under it from disappearing. Then you just scythe the dead plants down quick and plant the seeds into already auto watered soil.
