Sprinklers
Are they any good? If all they do is water the four crops around them then I don't see a point when I can save resources and so it myself.

Aim for quality sprinklers.

quality sprinklers and especially iridium sprinklers are much better, regular sprinklers are pretty bad

Basic sprinklers water 4 crops around is in + shape.
Quality sprinklers water 8 crops around it.
Iridium sprinklers water 24 crops in 5x5 square area, middle point of which is sprinkler.

Everyone thinks that basic sprinklers are a waste of resources. They are quite expensive for their use, so quality sprinklers are better cost-wise. But it depends on what you want to do, when and how and if you've unlocked quality sprinklers already...

Sprinklers = Time and energy saved by not manually watering them every day. When you get beyond tiny crop sizes and start reaching ~50 plants, you use your entire energy bar and half the day just by watering plants. You end up needing to go to the sauna every afternoon just so you have the energy to achieve something with the remaining third of the day.

Reg sprinklers are definitely not worth the ore investment though.

Okay. I have about 20 crops and the bronze watering bucket. I don't have the iridium sprinkler unlocked yet

The first tier sprinklers aren't really worth it early game. I do use them for a couple things: for growing a few flowers for the bee houses and filling the gaps the other sprinkler's don't cover in the greenhouse. But for the main farm, I wait and get the quality sprinklers as soon as I have the resources.

They seem like a huge investment at first, but they make up for that in the time they save you so you can do other things.

quality sprinklers are a must. what woudo said. at the start you can water the crops yourself, but once you get a bigger farm you'll get sick of it and it will takes to much time and energy to do other stuff (AND THERE'S A LOT TO DO!!)

Sprinklers are the most OP thing in the entire game. Nothing else comes close to the time saved vs cost paid.

Even if you buy the materials from Clint (damn expensive) or the iridium sprinklers from the sewer, any sprinkler will pay for itself within about a season. And doing it that way, they're each relatively close in cost/watered tile - from $350-500/tile iirc. And it obviously is less than that if you can get your own materials.

By another measure, every energy point you save at roughly that point in the game is worth at least $10-$30 to go mining/fishing, depending on your skills, things like mine levels/fishing area chosen and what activity you choose. So even the 4 tile sprinkler would be "worth" 4x$10x25 = $1000/season.

Now whether that's the BEST use of cash/materials at any point in time - that's the game...

The first sprinklers ironically suck early game, but aren't that bad mid game. You can make a line of trellises with sprinklers in the center, and the sprinklers help extend it.

(Example: I had 11 spaces available to use, so I put down 3 quality sprinklers and 2 normal sprinklers)

They're not great by any means, but they have their uses

I also use the first sprinklers for 2 flowers near my bee houses. I don't usually use them for anything else, except for the greenhouse if I don't have left over quality sprinklers after switching over to iridium ones.

Only good thing about the regular sprinklers is they are still a crafting item and you get an achievement for crafting everything one.

Even the level one sprinklers can cut your watering workload in half.

Don't think of them as watering 4 spots, think of them as watering 2 spots and put them in a line.

Or set up your crop beds as if you had the level 2 sprinklers, you'll have to water half of the spots in kind of an akward pattern, but that's still only 50% of the watering you'd have had to do before, and you can just drop in level 2 sprinklers as soon as you have the materials to make them.

Even the level one sprinklers can be useful.

Quality sprinklers (the ones made from iron, gold and quartz) are among the most useful things in the game, in my opinion. The more you expand your garden the more time (and energy) it takes to water all the crops, but if you have enough quality sprinklers, you won't have to water anything at all, just harvest and plant from time to time.
