Which farm do I pick?
Are there advantages to each type of farm? All of them sound good, seeing as I love to fish, forage, and mine. The Wilderness Farm seems a tad bit silly, though.

Kinda depends on what you want to focus on. The forage one is actually pretty good from my experience, but it has less land to farm on than the base farm. Whether you think the closer to home fishing is worth the loss of land (or the in farm mines, I suppose) would affect those choices.

It's mostly for the looks. If you want pure gameplay benefits then forest farm has the most useful bonus with easy access to hardwood.

River farm just gives you access to river fish next to your house. Hilltop farm has a mini quarry. Wilderness spawns monsters at night. That's pretty much it for their bonus.

It's all about looks. And how it looks like in the map. River farm kinda looks dumb on the map though.

river farm supposedly offers all fish you can get in town... the beach is in town, so is the mountain lake... too little land, never tried it for more than two seconds.

The wilderness farm is dumb, you can use the regular farm, and turn on monsters later on, not sure if it'd give the unique monster that way, but it's an option.

Forest farm reduces your farm space, spawns hardwood nodes every day, and you can get foragables on your farm, like morels.

hill farm is early access to copper, and geodes, for less space, eventually gets access to iron and gold, not sure if it ever gets iridium.

If you're interested in maximizing your farming and profits then the original farm type is definitely the best, but if you want a pretty farm or minor conveniences (like getting forage items, fish, monster drops, or minerals) then pick one of the others. My main file is the original farm from when the game first released, but now I'm working on the riverlands farm because I think it's really pretty and I like the separate islands to divide up my different sectors.

Usual farm: more space to plant/build things.
Forest farm: you get respawning hardwood.
Mining farm: you get respawning stones/ore.
Wilderness farm: you get monsters at night.
River farm: you can fish on your own farm (on all others you will only/mostly fish junk unless using crab pots).

Resource-wise everything is obtainable with other ways, it's just you need to travel a bit:
You can get 12 hardwood each day from secret forest (+random loot from mines/perk).
You can get any amount of stones from mines and quite a lot daily in quarry.
You can turn on monsters on any farm later in game.
You can fish for same fish in forest/town.

So basically each non-standard farm just gives easier access to some resource at the cost of space on your farm, which you can't expand.

In the end, decision is yours.
