Gifts in the mail?

I've started getting a bunch of gifts in the mail. Just clicked to close them, assuming the stuff is going into my inventory. But I just got sent something I really needed and noticed the thing didn't go into my inventory :O Does the gift just vanish if you don't click the picture of it on the mail? D: D: D: Or does it go somewhere that I'm not thinking of?

If you click on the picture the item goes into your inventory. If those items are not in your inventory when you just close the letter without clicking on the picture, then I'd guess they vanish. If you haven't finished the day just exit, reload the game, and play that day again. You should get the letter with the gift again.

Oh thank goodness about the recipes. Dang, all those free fish I accidentally discarded.
