Well, you need stones too, but most stones are just stones.

Ordinary stones do have a small chance to drop something else, but for the most part "stones" that have ore will look different.

Here's a list: http://stardewvalleywiki.com/Mining#Nodes

Get the ores and gems, and if you need stone mine the pure gray ones, they're guaranteed to give 1-3 stones.

Otherwise, only mine the rocks to find the ladder or clear a path.

is there any mod out there that makes the day time double the lengh or slow down the clock by haf.. i realy hate that the days are so damn short cause you fall asleep 2 in the morning

it's important to mine as much as you can, but not all of it. mining the stones allow for you to find exits to the next level, and will let you get a bunch of stone in the process. If you mine too much, you will start losing endurance pretty quick. try to find a balance between the mining and finding the next level. Soon enough, you will no longer need to mine, because you have so much stone and ore, that it is pointless to get anymore. Hope this helps some.

Also, you'll get more gems and geodes if you only mine on good luck days. You can see your luck each day via the TV. There are also foods that increase your mining, though I don't know them off the top of my head.

There is a mod that allows you to stay up past 2am, called "Night Owl" I think? Pretty sure you have to install SMAPI to run it, but that's all very simple to do.

It's called "Timespeed". I've been using it for quite a while now. It makes so much more sense, I think, in terms of bringing Fishing, Mining and Foraging closer to Farming in terms of viability - and you don't have to run around like a headless chicken, you've got more time to think ahead.

I use complete time freeze indoors, 10 seconds per tick in the mines, and 12 outdoors.

yea , i dont have a kitchen yet so kinda hard to make my own food for energy but im getting there lol. ah i see.. its not that you have to be back 2 in the morning its more that i think the days go by to quickly. would be great if there was a mod that made the day at least x2 as long.
