After year 2 is considered end game, by that point you basicly have done almost everything there is to do event wise.
And if you aren't too far along by that point, it'll help you catch up.
In my very first playthrough I have a dozen Iridium sprinklers, an Iridium watering can and an Iridium pick as well as 21 Iridium Bars in my resource chest, and the chance to get that statue hasn't even come up yet because it hasn't been two years.
Now that I know what I'm doing, I'll have Iridium stuff even faster in future playthroughs.
Essentially, you'll always get that statue at a point where you don't need Iridium anymore.
What a waste.
