You can get a silo that allows you to harvest hay from grass, and chickens can just be let outside to eat the grass. Also, a mayo machine can turn eggs into mayo for profit.

i know that but its a miner profit, not worth nearly the time

As you level up your chickens, they give better quality items. Animals aren't very profitable though, until you get to the higher tiers, and even then crops will make you more money.

I don't really play Stardew to milk money. I play it for the pleasant farming. I have chickens, ducks, rabbits and a void chicken. I also have a cow and two sheep. : >

Void Egg. Duck Eggs. Mayo from both == $$

If you let the chickens out during the day they will eat grass and you don't need to feed them. You only need to feed them after rainy days when they don't go out.
Also once they get happier they will produce higher quality eggs which are worth more.

It's 200 profit per day per chicken.

Don't buy hay, cut your grass for rainy days and let the chickens graze during the day. No cost to feed them.

Then you get 200g for selling mayonnaise, or 300 if you use a large egg.

Once you get an incubator it's better. Starting cost of buying a chicken is 1.2k or whatever, but then you can breed your own chickens for infinite cash.

Crops are generally better, but animals aren't worthless...
