Berries from skinny bushes... Am I blind, or is this glitch?
So, almost 440 hours of gameplay, and I just now accidentally clicked on one of the skinny bushes in berry season, and out popped 3 blackberries. Have there always been berries in these and I didn't know, or is this a glitch?

Blackberries from the 8th to 11th in the Fall, Salmonberries from 15th to 18th in the Spring. They always have been there. Not a glitch at all.

I always gather as many as I can during these four days in case I run short on the fruit I need for my jams and wine.

Especially in the first 2 years, I agree. They are a lifesaver for many different tasks (energy for more mining, fishing, wines, jellies, etc).

Once you are in years 4 or 5, I just pass them by, I don't need them anymore.

You know about berry season, so are you talking about bushes that don't usually have berries (screenshot the bush)? Or did you not know what berry season means and I'm reading too much into that one line?

No guys, I know about the berry bushes that visibly have berries on them in season! I mean the skinnier bushes that are one tile wide.

ITT: Idiots who can't read the word "skinny" in the title

I'll have to test this as well, but I've never bothered jiggling any bushes except the ones that obviously have berries

Although judging by that screenshot, you're playing a modded game, so it could just be that...

I'm like I Kinda Fall, I've thought it was only the bigger bushes so I've never shaken the skinny ones. However, I'll need to wait now for salmonberry season to try it, I've just passed the blackberry season.

Or the fact that I refrenced "berry season" in my post, but people are still telling me 'oh yeah, there times where berries grow'

Dunno, to my knowledge, none of my mods have modded the behavior of the bushe.

This would be testable by creating a new character, sleeping until Salmonberry season and then going out and shaking the thin bushes.

Also, if it's a bug of some sort, it might have to do with "extra berry" production. After that first, easy test, it would be prudent to try again except this time raise Foraging to level 4 before shaking the thin bushes.

There's also the possibility that the thin bushes can produce Blackberries and not Salmonberries, but... I don't think that would be the case. After all, the regular bushes are able to produce both types of berries.

In any case, I don't have time to do any of that right now.

So, I tested on a differnet computer, clean install of Stardew, no mods, new chari. Slept until salmonberry season, no berries.
Used that save with current mods on original computer, no berries.
Even using cheats to up the lvl of foraging to 4, then 8, then max, no berries.
Then started a new chari on origial computer, all mods, edited save file to change to fall 8, no berries. did the same with uping the lvl to 4, 8, max, sill no berries.

Last thing I did, is backup, then edit the save that had the berries on skinny bushes, back to fall 8th. and.... no berries. So, it must have been a one time glitch....
kinda hope I accidentally triggered a future feature or something... like those bushes will drop nuts or something at times.
Because it's odd how the bush is squashed down, I right click on it, it springs back to normal shape and spawns berries.

Looks like it. That or it's part of one of your mods.

If thin bushes really could generate berries, it's unlikely that we wouldn't all know about it at this point in time. Many people would have accidentally shaken some while picking berries and would have spread the knowledge.

Thanks for doing the testing, by the way.
