Trees in the greenhouse.
Hi !!

I have all 6 fruit trees and the 3 wild trees planted in my greenhouse. Which is nice. I produce all 6 fruits on a yearly basis, and I get the maple syrup, resin and pine tar from the 3 other trees.

But once winter arrived, my fruit trees were fine, but the 3 «outside« trees behave the same as if they were outside. The pine tree has snow on it and the 2 other trees have no leaves.

Is it a bug or these trees weren't intended to be grown in the Greenhouse?

I also wish I could get a mushroom tree in there.

Talking about mushroom tree... each time winter hits, mushrooms stops coming from the tapper. And once Spring arrives, I need to manually remove the tapper from the tree and put it back on again otherwise no mushroom will ever come back from the tapper. Anyone noticed that?

Thanks!! :)

Edit: Oh and I forgot... I can't seem to be able to get the huge crops (melon, pumpkin and cauliflower) in the greenhouse either. They've been grown for months, but they don't transform into a huge crop. Is it because of the sprinklers? Do I need to manually water them?

Don't know about the tree issue, don't know why you need to put non fruit trees in the greenhouse, they continue to produce when tapped even in winter.

For the mushroom tree probably has something to do with they turn into a stump in over winter and when they regrow for spring it upsets the tapper. I untap my mushroom trees before winter and reset them in spring.

For the huge crops yes it is because of sprinklers, you need to have a 3x3 grid of crops for them to have a chance to go big, If you have the sprinklers set in the optimized positions you can't get a 3x3 grid of crops, the sprinkler would be in the middle of the 3rd row of the 3x3 grid.

It's not what I meant about sprinklers. Of course I knew it had to be 3x3 and not bothered by a sprinkler. What I meant was, I did plan 3x3 for all of the crops, and waiting to transform into a huge crop. But I think they need to be manually watered as a grown crop or they have to get rain on them in order to «transform«. I've been waiting a long time, sprinklers water them, but they just remain as grown crops.

Here's the setup:

I have 3 ancient seeds at the bottom waiting to grow and ancient seeds are done. I do my recycling of trash in the greenhouse as well. The reason I have pine trees, oak trees, and maple trees in there is only to save space on the farm itself.

The trees will retain their seasonal appearance regardless of where they're grown (pine trees covered in snow in the desert is like my favorite ironic thing tbh)

I don't know whether or not the greenhouse can allow for giant crops.

I have nothing to contribute to the conversation but I like your greenhouse setup

I've found it easier to get huge crops if I use 4x4 rather than 3x3. I've only tried this outside, but it's worth a try in the greenhouse.

As for the tapped trees, I'd regard them as 'wild' rather than 'cultivated' in the way that crops and fruit trees can be cultivated in a greenhouse. This would explain why they act in the same manner as those tapped trees outside.

I agree your green house set up is lovely :)

I found this on the wiki for crops:

As of PC v1.11, only 3 crops are able to become giant crops, and none of them can form in the greenhouse.

Thanks, it does answer why they don't transform in the greenhouse. I remember seeing YT videos from players that had giant crops in their greenhouse. Must've been pre-patch.

Thanks guys for kind comments. Much better looking now that winter is over, but I might remove the seasonal trees after all. It looks silly even when Fall arrives. But I did like the layout.

Thanks everybody.

Ah hah! Thank you, this explains a lot. I've gotten giant crops a few times, but none in the greenhouse, I thought it was just unlucky. Thanks.
