Need advice on how to get people to like me

i'm trying not to read too much, I like finding things out, however the gift system seems to kinda complex. I know I can give someone 2 things a week, but I'm just not sure what to give

I'm still on my first season. When I give someone a flower or some fruit, they just don't like it

Where can I find a list of things people will accept ?

Characters will sometimes tell you what they love or hate, and their friends or family members might also mention something about it. Sometimes you can also tell easily; for example, Pam and Shane love Beer, anyone could have guessed that.

Other than that, if you don't want to peek at the wiki, you've got to learn what people like by giving them gifts and seeing how they react. If they like something they're usually going to say something very positive, and if they love something there's going to be a heart icon popping up.

Some general rules just to get you started:

It takes 250 Friendship points to fill a heart.

A Loved gift will increase Friendship by 80.
A Liked gift will increase Friendship by 45.
Talking to the character (once per day max) will increase Friendship by 20.
Completing a board mission for someone will increase Friendship by 150.

Disliked and Hated gifts will reduce Friendship similarly.
On a character's birthday, gifts have eight times the regular effect.
Item quality increases the effect.

Most everyone likes artisanal goods or fruit. Blueberries are liked by everyone, I think. Most of the women like or love flowers, but daffodils aren't very popular - I know Jodi dislikes them. Most women like or love diamonds. Just about everyone likes gems, with the hippie chick and the blacksmith loving them.

Some gifts are easy to remember based on stereotypes or colors. Penny has green eyes, Penny loves emeralds. Sebastian's an emo kid, he loves frozen tears, obsidian and void eggs. Abigail has purple hair, she loves amethyst. Haley has blonde hair, she likes sunflowers. Leah's at the bar every night, she loves wine. Maru's a scientist, she loves batteries and rare metal bars.

They can, as of 1.1, only be planted on your farm sadly.

Start small. Work in groups.

Start with Lewis, your Granddads old friend. Lewis gives you 15 parsnip seeds. That's a hint he likes Parsnips. If you talk to him, he'll tell you more about what he likes. And he might say a few things about other people too.

Evelyn is always tending the flowers around town, that's a clue she likes flowers.

Shane is always in the bar.

Walk around town, see what people are doing, a lot of them will tell you what their interests are.
