I have never seen the squirrel nut thing, but the frog one I have seen many times. Sometimes I will see one and it will run a few tiles then just splash into water even though there isn't any water.
Sorry, I have only seen it once. I don't remember. I can say, though, it was an acorn and the tree was the one on the right of the entrence to the bus area. Spring foliage, so, it could hsve been on the day of the Spring Fair.
