3 Stardew Valley Suggestions For Expansion/Update
3 Stardew Valley Suggestions For Expansion or a future update:

1) Another area of the valley West of the farm. This area would have another farm (in real life yours wouldn’t be the only farm in a town like this!) You would get to this farm by going out the north entrance of your farm and then West.
- This farm would be owned by three new NPC’s (husband, wife, male child).
- It would be a farm specializing in only a few things. They raise horses and that’s where you have to buy a horse from. You could buy seeds and fertilizer from them as well. The crops they specialize in are crops you can’t start on your own with seeds from Pierres. You’d have to buy your seeds for these new special crops from this other farm/family. These new crops could be herbs like lavender, thyme, sage, licorice root, etc. The player would not be able to harvest the crops on this family's farm. The crops would likely be fenced in.
- At a certain heart level with the wife of this farm she could share some new recipes with you from her grandmother’s family cookbook that use their specialized crops.
- The husband/wife may send you requests to bring them certain items to put in their seed machine, or ask you for certain foods to make recipes, or ask you if you have spare wood/hardwood/stone so they can make repairs after a big storm or an earthquake or a bad winter.
- The husband or wife may come over to ask you to clear away ‘a big mysterious rock’ that appeared on their farm and damaged their crops. They offer to pay you 100 gold. It’s one of those big purple rocks that requires the gold pickaxe. You get to keep the ore you mine from it after clearing the rock away.
- When you have children this other farmer’s child may sometimes appear on your farm to play with your children, or your children may sometimes disappear off of your farm and be found on the neighbor’s farm playing with their child. The other farm’s child may send you requests for trash items like broken glasses or CD’s or soggy newspaper. He may want the glasses for a snowman, and the broken CD or soggy newspaper for a school art project.
- This other farm family is friendly, but, they sell all of their goods to Joja Mart. Pierre mentions to you at some point how he doesn’t like them but doesn’t mention why. This family may even try to convince you to join Joja. After you complete the community center you lose 2 friendship hearts each with the husband and the wife and one of them comes to tell you that they have nowhere to sell their goods now that JoJa is closed since Pierre’s doesn’t buy their goods. You have to go on their behalf to Pierre’s, gift him with one of their goods, and get him to start buying their goods now. When you complete this quest the relationship is repaired with your farm neighbors.
- When you first start a new game, this neighboring farm family could be out of town for the first two to three seasons. They could be out on vacation (a free tropical vacation they won by entering a contest at Joja). They come back after the 2nd or 3rd month. This gives the player a chance to explore around and become familiar with the game without being overwhelmed with too many new NPCs. The player wouldn’t be able to visit their farm or see what’s over there until the NPC’s come back from vacation.
- This other area west of your farm would also have a new little forest just north of the new farm to explore to forage. You’d have to go through this tiny little patch of forageable forest to get to their farm. It would be nothing more than some trees you can’t chop down and some forageable bushes.

2) A new NPC police officer (Sheriff?) who also has a small police building that he lives in the back of. Being in a small town he’d probably be a pretty laid back guy, but there could be some interesting events where Pam gets drunk and has to be taken home or where someone calls the police about Linus going through trash cans? Or about Linus’ tent being destroyed.
- There could be a quest to help the officer find stolen items.
- There could be a heart event where he asks you to help find a missing child who didn’t come home for dinner (the missing child is up by the railroad). The quest to find the missing child starts by the officer NPC coming to your door at night and asking if you’ve seen the child and then asking for your help to find him or her before midnight. The entire town is out looking for him/her. The officer gifts you with a torch so you can see in the dark.
- The police building could be south of the library/archeology office. There is also room for the building next to the Doctor’s office. There is also room for the building between the graveyard and Emily’s house.
- The officer could also be new to the town and maybe has only been there for a year before your player arrives, so when you first talk to him he tells you that he’s also new and hasn’t made many friends yet. He probably hints around in future dialog about being lonely and feeling like he doesn’t fit in, and how he’s used to being from a bigger city with more people.
- The officer makes it known (or maybe one of the other characters does) that he’s been divorced before. This could be why he hasn’t made many friends, because there’s a stigma in the town about getting divorced. He’s single and the player would be able to marry him.
- On his days off you see him fishing in the river, or maybe even with a tent set up to camp in the forest south of Marnie’s Ranch.
- When you first start a new game, the small police station could be closed for the first season because the officer is out of town receiving training. He comes back to town on your second month. This gives the player time to explore around without being overwhelmed by too many new NPCs.

3) A new quest to build Linus a little cabin. It would be a small nice looking cabin that would replace his tent and wouldn’t take up much more space than his tent. It would come with an apple tree planted next to it, and a tilled up patch of ground so he can plant 8 things. Once Linus’ cabin is built you can gift him 8 crop seeds each season and he can plant a little patch for an edible garden. (The player would not be able to harvest his crops/apple trees as those are for him to eat... the crops/tree would probably be fenced in). After the cabin is built, Linus’ clothes change to overalls and a t-shirt instead of the rags he wears.
* Cabin Cost: $1,000,000 gold, 300 pieces of hardwood, 700 pieces of wood, 500 stones. It’s expensive because it shouldn’t happen until later in the game. It’s something the player could work up to and have fun with later in the game.
* Before Building the Cabin a player must:
- Have the highest level of friendship with Linus.
- Have the highest level of friendship with Robin, Demetrius, and Maru. You’d have to talk to Robin, Demetrius, and Maru and they would each tell you how wonderful an idea it is that you’re helping Linus out. Robin would build the cabin when you pay her the above mentioned cabin cost.
- Have the community center completed.
- Have at least 5 friendship with the mayor and ask to get his approval to build the cabin there. - The mayor won’t approve your request if the community center isn’t completed or you don’t have at least 5 hearts with the mayor. The mayor won’t approve if you don’t have all hearts with Linus. The mayor won't approve if you haven't asked for the permission of Robin, Maru, and Demetrius since Linus lives behind them in the forest. Robin, Maru, and Demetrius won't agree to it if you don't have all hearts with each of them.

I feel like these 3 additions to the game would make it more immersive, add more realistic layers to the game, and give the player more things to do/explore/and people to meet and interact with.

These are nice ideas, but I believe the game is no longer getting any added features from the developer, but maybe modders will come to the rescue.

I'd love it if someone modded these in. I used to mod Pokemon games a little but I was never good with coding or anything of that nature. I wish I had the time/skill to do an expansion mod with these.

We're all aware that the game is lacking in endgame content, but... the developer's already working on his next game, so Stardew Valley is not likely to get any additional content. At this point it's not even certain the bugs and extreme balance issues are going to be fixed.

And as a side note, since Linus doesn't want that stuff, his character would have to be changed considerably. That's too much of a break in immersion IMO.

I doubt any of these will get added, the developer is working on a new game, and he doesn;t read the forums, so he wouldn;t see these anyway

MP will be the last update, besides bug fixes

There aren't many details yet.

It takes place in the same world as Stardew Valley, but the theme will be completely different. Stardew Valley was inspired from Harvest Moon, the next game will be inspired by another game from another genre.

It's using MonoGame+Nez.
