Letting them graze adds 8.
Milking (or shearing) adds 5.
It just takes a whole lot of time and work.
Don't forget to check the Traveling Cart every Friday and Sunday. Buying animal products from there can save you a lot of trouble.
Not necessarily true, I never let any of my animals out (except pigs) and they gain hearts just fine. Like Trip said, it just takes time to gain their love.
It was obviously OP isn't doing it fast enough to meet his goal. I merely point out what he was missing. I never said that he "have to" in a sense of completion regardless of time but completion on time. not let animal gazing extend the loving process by almost a quarter. For non ranger players, it could be weeks.
The biggest mistake I made, was I wasn't SHUTTING THE DOOR to the coop and barn at night, so make sure you're doing that if you let them out to graze.
This is not required at all.
Technically it does make it a bit easier to pet your animals before they start wandering outside and hide in the grass, but there is no actual benefit to Friendship or anything else.
You actually run the risk of trapping an animal outside, which would result in massive Mood penalties or even death.
You can leave the door open all the time; the animals exit and reenter when it makes sense for them to do so.
Hmm, odd. I was having an issue where my animals were not generating large eggs/milks. The only thing I changed was shutting the door at night and they started to appear.
No issues with accidently locking them out, they all go in on their own between 6and 7PM.
Therefor i am going to set this to solved
