Ranching?
Do you guys have a lot of animal? Or do you guys focusing on farming? I can't manage all of them very well.

on my first time/game i had animals for the community bundles etc. after that i never really bothered to buy animals again because the stables only take a way space on the farm and taking care of animals takes too much time. in my opinion its not worth it. i solely focus on farming. but i guess different people have different approaches. :steamhappy:

Personally it depends on my play through. Some I concertrate on ranching with a small area set for farming, others its the other way. It's really personal preferance I guess.

It depends on what you like really. Farming will give you the most profits overall. So if you're really into maxxing out your money, that's where the profit is. But I think ranching does well too.

You always start with a little: a few crop fields, then a few animals and then you keep growing and growing and will learn how to do everything better and better.

I'm in year 4 now and have 48 animals and 2 slime hutchs, also have lots of crop fields, just yesterday I planted 1066 melon seeds!

No.

Animals produce as long as they're fed, so they are a good investment if you're planning on a very long playthrough. However, you do need a large upfront investment and the animals will take a long time to yield profits.

The big problem with them is that they'll require a lot of daily work. Forever.

A coop full of chickens might be worth it, but I personally don't even bother with that. After the insane amount of work I put into animals during my first playthrough, I now have a strict "no animals" policy. I don't even get a pet, and often do without a horse (always have to leave it at the minecarts anyway).

In my book, animals are simply way too much trouble. They're not worth it.

I'd say for someone's first playthrough, just get one barn and one coop, so you can get 2 of everything.

2 chickens, ducks, rabbits and void chickens
2 cows, goats, sheep and pigs

Or even just start with cows and sell them later on when you get pigs

Animals are quite a bit of work compared to crops. They're good return on your investment early game, as it's daily money compared to weekly as with crops, and you don't need to wait 3-7 days to make jelly/wine.

If you want to do an entire run / file dedicated to animals, though, it's completely doable. But it's a lot of work. It's hard to walk through a horde of ducks to gather 12 eggs, move to the next coop, gather 12 more... You have to milk each cow individually... For goats and sheep their timers might not sync up, so you could lose a day if you aren't paying attention. (I think - maybe not.) It's a lot of work once you have a lot of animals (25+) because you have to watch their food, sync up their timers for sheep and goats, re-arrange which animals go in which building...

now i have a playtrough, and after getting the townhal done, i now switched to ONLY, beehive's

next time i'm gonne do only slime farms, so jeah
the thing is players are so hyped and focused on getting as many money as possible,,, DON'T do it,, you don't need 10's of miljons on the bank

I'm on third year. Completed community bundle. Completed grandpa challenge. Now all I have to do is makin money, redesign farm, etc.

Ranching is really time consuming, especially cow and goat. And you have to talk to them to increase their affection.

I fear that if I dont caring them, their heart will drop.

I only have one of each color, and that is plenty.
