I wish I took a screenshot of it, but Elliot said something completely new after four years of marriage. I couldn't find it in the wiki, so I guess this is a fairly recent addition, though rather small? He said "How are we doing on money, <character name>?"

Was there any choice you could of picked? because he's a gold digger. He wants your money then he's going to leave you on Year 10. at least that's what happened to me.

Could just be a random thing, like how some spouses randomly have depressed days, maybe sometimes they randomly worry about money? Was it right around the season change, or were you low on cash by chance? I hate Elliot so I dunno if that's exclusive to him...

Spouses can say stuff like that if you haven't sold anything in a few days; Sebastian sometimes tells me he doesn't want to have to sell his laptop.

Was probably just a random thing. It was around the end of Spring.
