Sadly, I don't know any similar games with MP.
I mean DS is definitely more intense and less casual but you still build and grow stuff. The fact that it seems to be the closest thing despite such differences is what makes me frustrated haha.
I thought maybe Terraria but people are also saying they're nothing like each other.
They're not similar, in Terraria, you do build, but you also have monsters trying to kill you and you have to build weapons to fight them and defeat boss monsters, and in Don't Starve Together, they only have crafting in common, you don;t grow things to sell them, you grow them to keep you from starving to death, and you craft wepaons to fight monsters that are trying to kill you, the only thing they have in common with Stardew is some minor crafting and crafting.
Minecraft (apparently the Dev likes to play it too~)
I have Minecraft, but gets boring after a while especially when I can really only play it alone
Feel the Snow
Junk Jack
Planet Centuari (may have misspelled)
Minecraft
Oh man, Feel the Snow looks great. Thanks!
WHAAAAT. TELL ME MORE. I mean I'll google it but tell me about your experience and its reliability.
Step 1: Download SMAPI, unzip the folder and place its contents in your root Stardew Valley install folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\ common\Stardew Valley by default) next to the game’s normal exe.
Step 2: Download the Makeshift Multiplayer mod, unzip the folder and place its contents in the “Mods” folder that came from the SMAPI zip.
Step 3: Launch the game from “StardewModdingAPI.exe.” You will still be able to play the unmodded version by launching the game regularly.
Step 4: For the host, make a new character or load the game you’d like to play in, then select “Yes” and “OK” on the two pop-up windows that appear and wait. Note: The game will look like it has crashed, but it hasn’t. Patience.
Step 5: For all other players, wait until the host has done the above step, then make a new character or load the one you’d like to use. Select “No” on the first pop-up window, enter the host’s IP address and select “OK” on the second, and finally select “OK” on the third.
Step 6: The host should now see a pop-up saying a player has connected. If you need to add more players, hit “No” and have the others connect. When everyone is connected, hit “Yes” and you’ll load into the game!
That's how you get it! Or what I picked up online. But I'm going to try it~!
Also, the beta for the Stardew Valley multiplayer arrives around late December / early January. The mod is only there to wait until the multiplayer is online.
Still open to suggestions for other games though so keep 'em coming!
+1 for Terraria; it's my favorite game hands down and I'm nearing 1000 hours (992 so I'm close!); don't be discouraged by all the fighting, because you can go coop (or PvP, if you want) and the sandbox part of it allows a whole lot of replayability. It's also one of those all-ages games. There is no farming. However, it's also the best multiplayer game I own. My one issue with Terraria is the steam community.
Both of those games are similar. Starbound is more linear, and I also consider it to be more casual. It also has more of a survival feel to it, along with farming elements. Terraria is better for multiplayer, but it's also more chaotic. It still has a clear progression system, the system is just looser and more free. The focus is on fighting, however; Starbound's focus is a bit broader. Both of these games are also casual. One thing though: they are also a thousand times more fun with a friend. So if you play either of these games with a friend and then your friend decides they don't want to play anymore, most people can't bring themselves to play solo. By most people I mean me from personal experience :P
Don't Starve isn't a casual game. It's difficult and heavy on survival. That's not to say it isn't fun; just that out of all three, it's the least similar to SV.
