If you want to get Friendship quickly, Coffee is available at the Saloon early in the game for 300g. Coffee also works if it's his birthday and you don't have time to process anything else; it's a little more expensive than other stuff but it can be processed very quickly.
They're loved by almost everyone, but they're actually no better than other loved gifts.
Prismatic Shard in particular makes a bad gift because it can't have quality and is worth so much gold. It would be silly to give Harvey a 2,000g rare mineral when you can just give him a 15g bottle of Wine or even buy a 300g Coffee at the Saloon and get as much Friendship for those gifts as you'd get for the 2,000g one.
I concur. The whole idea of giving people Prismatic Shards and Rabbit's Feet is ridiculous. There's tons of "loved" gifts (for any given person) that are cheaper and/or easier to get.
Harvey: Pickles.
