No.

Technically there's a very small chance that the Traveling Cart will have one unit, but it's going to be overpriced.

Friday and Sunday.

But I wouldn't try to get Hardwood from there. There's only a 1.26% chance for it to show up and it'll cost anywhere from 100g to 1,000g for that one piece.

People normally get Hardwood from large stumps.

There is 3 main ways to get Hardwood reliaibly. The best way can be done in 1st year spring. Just buy 25 copper & 25 iron after unlocking the funace. Then smelt those up and ungrade the axe to steel when you get 2k and 5k gold. That will allow you to farm hardwood everyday in the secert woods. Forest map has 8 respawning hardwood stumps you can mine everyday with alteast a copper axe. Also the Final talent lumberjack has a drop chance for hardwood when cutting trees. (not really worth it when you look at the other talents but if you need allot it could be an option.) There are a few more but they require rng mining or the like.

secret forest has 6 stumps not 8 stumps require I believe the 3rd axe to get thru and give you 2 hardwood each so 12 daily from the secret forest.

its also found randomly in the mines inside barrels.
If you read my post again you will see I said the Forest map has 8. I never gave a number of stumps in the secert woods. You can upgrade your axe to steel by the end of spring if you just buy the ore from the blacksmith. You can also just level your mining skill anmd turn copper into iron for the upgrade. :)

Yes I know but if you are looking to get hardwood as fast as possible it is way easier just to buy the 25 ore.

Hmm... I don't know. In spring, your biggest obstacle is that you don't have much gold to invest. Any money that you spend is money that you can't invest in things that will generate returns, and then you won't have those returns to invest again.

25 Iron Ore is... 3,750g? Even if you had the budget that early in spring (upgrading the axe also costs 5,000g), you could have bought a lot of seeds with that money instead. If you blow that amount on Ore instead of seeds, this early in spring, you'll have 10,000g or 15,000g less by the start of summer. Having 10,000g or 15,000g less by the start of summer means you'll have 50,000g or 100,000g less by the start of autumn. Rather severe self-sabotage.

In comparison, getting to level 40 of the mines only takes a few days. You can get that Iron Ore before you would have amassed the 9k for the axe upgrade and pay only 5k for it instead.

No... if getting Hardwood early is that important to you, simply choose the Forest Farm. The Forest Farm is awesome, probably worth having your soil in the wrong corner of the map.

go to the lost woods every day and get 12 hardwood each day

I never said it was cheap I said it was the fastest. A few days...rofl..you mean if rng is good to you. It is going to take aleast 5 days to even get in the mine. Even if you can get to the 40 level in 6-10 days with good rng that is still the 11th-16th. of spring. also I would like to point out the op never said what season he was in so assuming the first spring is fine but he could be in any season in any year really. You also assume he'll need money for summer but there is no way of knowing if he is even using crops as his main source of income. he could be an animal farmer or fisherman. That would also change our suggestions which would be get some crab pots and start recycling trash which will provide you with iron. all we do know is the OP asked if you could buy hardwood. Now I did say the best way to do this was in 1st spring but i didn't say upgarde it in spring only to buy the ore in spring. Also I said can be not should be. I assume a person would wait if they are doing crops and do the axe upgarde when they had the extra cash after taking care of farming expenses not going all out just to get the axe upgrade. I mean I for one always have the cave unlocked way before the end of spring so I assume most people can atleast hit over 25k in spring. That will leave him 16,250 for summer after the iron axe upgrade. I for one just cheat and wait for 4th level mining and just convert from copper to iron but my lp is a challenge run and I can't, by the rules of the challenge, go below 40 in the mines.

That wall of text makes no sense.

Despite wording it in a way that leaves a very small possibility that your solution is viable for seasons other than the first spring, realistically speaking, no one's going to buy 25 copper and 25 iron in summer or autumn (and certainly not in winter) because they want to upgrade their axe from default and then from Copper. It's just not a realistic scenario. Even if the person happened to have never upgraded their axe even once before and used all their surplus ore in both copper and iron, they'd be better off going to the Mines and getting the stuff themselves than spending 5,625g on low-level ore.

So yes, in context, we're absolutely talking very early game here, most likely the first spring or perhaps early summer. The player is going to be conserving gold to invest and to buy important things.

The 7,000g upgrade costs for early access to the Secret Woods early is already pretty steep. Spending an extra 3,750g on iron at that time is nowhere near reasonable, and spending 1,875g on 25 copper ore (it's free in the Mines starting on day 5!) is pure insanity. Even if you were indeed that insane and willing to dump that 5,625g into ore for axe upgrades, combined with the upgrade costs, that adds up to 12,625g. Maybe mining takes time, but you're not going to make that much gold in a few days either, even if you give up all other expenses. If you want to be technical, nonstop Fishing for gold would indeed be the fastest way to attain the twice-upgraded axe (especially if you get some ore in treasure chests), but it's not a practical solution because people use their first spring to do a lot of important stuff. You want to be working on all your skills.

Buying the ore is not faster. One dude working on gathering 12,625g is going to take as much time as someone working on progress in the Mines while gathering only 7,000g.

At the end of the day, both will be completely broke, but the miner will still have the 45 levels of progress in the Mines that they worked for, while the other will have nothing because the 5,625g extra gold that they put their efforts in is now gone.

So, to any new player who might happen to be reading this thread... even if you think you have urgent need of a tool upgrade, don't start amassing gold aiming to buy 25 iron ore. Just go mining. Not only will it save you tons of gold, it's actually pretty decent money anyway.

It is like your agruing with your self. Regardless of any the points you make it will get you the upgrade the fastest. yes it will be expensive and yes most people would ether wait or just start on the forest map so they can just get hardwood with the copper axe. But it will still be the fastest way on the none forest map. My original post gave 3 ways to get the hardwood. Buying ore was only 1.
